[Seoul: Hyehwa] PURE GOROKE (CLOSED)

because that is how 순결한 고로케 is directly translated into, PURE Goroke. goroke, or gorokke or koroke, is actually Japanese. fried on the outside and something soft and yummy on the inside. it can be cheese, goguma (sweet potato), vegetables.. you name it. it is normally round and so super delicious. I can never get enough. for a fussy person on fried food, I personally love koroke because they are usually not too oily and it is fried to perfection.

(many tourists may thing that eating Japanese food in Korea is an utter waste of time and money but believe me, this is totally going to be worth it.)

혜화/대학로 길거리에서 파는 순결한 고로케 정말로 글로 표현할 수 없는 정도로 맛있습니다!

August: Food, Bukchon, Food, M.Net.

my title pretty much sums up my whole post for today. since I am having my exams soon so I have not been going out T_T. hence I will need to blog about stuff that are way overdue where I’ve been saving them as fillers anyway. =D. on August, my best friend, Megumi came to visit! I was so glad because we hadn’t met since March when we graduated T_T. she left right after our graduation ceremony le sigh.

IMG_3873 copy

we went for Japanese food after a few rounds of Korean food. the silliest thing is that Megumi insisted on going for Fukuoka food when she’s from Fukuoka! because I love the restaurant and she wanted to have Japanese food with me since we’ve never had it together before. but she said it’s good even for a Fukuokan standard so no regrets haha. [Seoul] Meal Top Patbingsu! 밀탑 팥빙수!

so after ignoring so many queues for the famous so called “best patbingsu” in Seoul, I finally tried it. Meal Tops are normally available at Hyundai Departmental stores. and usually on the top floor.

IMG_3839 copy

their shop concept are the same so it’s easy to recognize. my menu pictures is with Megumi I think T_T. but anyway, this place is easy to find. there’s one Hyundai Departmental store right at Sinchon! Continue reading “[Seoul] Meal Top Patbingsu! 밀탑 팥빙수!”

[Seoul: Gangnam Station] Butter Finger Pancakes – Breakfast

I was dumb to come to a pancake shop without ordering pancakes. but since it was my first time here I will definitely make my 2nd visit. it is located near exit 9 of Gangnam station.

this place is incredulously famous. some people think it’s overrated but it was so far so good for me. I really liked how perfect everything was. but I wouldn’t spend an hour waiting for it. maybe 20 minutes is fine haha. apparently the boss of this shop was a successful guy working in a huge Korean company but he found the perfect recipe for pancakes and he flipped pancakes instead.

Camping in Korea!

camping is actually a very favourable activity among Koreans and to my knowledge, almost every Korean family has a tent. do they even sleep in it? well I am not sure. but they do love building it and sitting by the lakes or in any gardens. there is also this campsite next to Hangang called Nanji Camping Site. I have been to the Nanji camping site but only for the day and those places have almost everything for rent. just bring whatever you want to BBQ and go there. but this time, I went for the REAL DEAL.

went to campsites as far as Hong Cheon (next to Chun Cheon) for it. it was quite a long 3 hours ride but I felt like I was not in Korea. and I’ve got to consider myself lucky since those places are not easily reached by public transport so as a foreigner, these are places which are almost impossible to get to.

my first time sleeping on a sleeping bag. literally on it because it was super hot. it got a little bit more chilly at night. but it’s still hot. T_T. gracious weather in Korea. bloody weather. Continue reading “Camping in Korea!”

HONEY BREAD!

there is nothing I like better than honey bread in cafes! the best one is at Coffine Gurunaru and the other one that I always have is at Angel in Us. which Kate calls Angelanus because of some video she watched. pffft.

IMG_3791 copy

they serve a good standard honey bread where they call it maple syrup bread or something but you can always say honey bread and they’d give you the same thing ^^. Continue reading “HONEY BREAD!”

[Seoul: Gangnam Station] Mies Container

this is the hooters for females. a ‘container’ with hot macho men serving you? hell yeah! this place always have a queue too. so be prepared to wait in line for at least 30 minutes. there’s 2 shops in Gangnam; one near exit 9 and another near the CGV area.

IMG_3779 copy

this is the bigger one near exit 9. and the queue was really long. although it isn’t noticeable in this picture. and upon entry, you’ll always be greeted with loud manly voices which fills the entire restaurant. Continue reading “[Seoul: Gangnam Station] Mies Container”

[Seoul: Itaewon] my new favourite hang out spot.

I am sorry if I ever wrote that Itaewon is a place that you can skip. but it is true if you only want the Korean bits of Korea. but for a nice night out, Itaewon is definitely the place to go to.

IMG_3719 copy

I have never felt so homesick until the long holidays here started and I have no where to go to because nobody is free to hang out with me T_T. so since I found comfort at Itaewon, I really loved it. the picture above is actually a bar called District. it looks super fancy and I’ve always wanted to go to except it looks way too high end for a student like me hahaha. Continue reading “[Seoul: Itaewon] my new favourite hang out spot.”

[Seoul: Gwanghwamun] Yamaya

the thing about Seoul is.. there is no such thing as Yoshinoya nor Sushi Zanmai. you Malaysians should really appreciate the fact that you have Sushi Zanmai because it is so darn good. in Korea, the cheaper sushi restaurants serve sushi 10 times worst than Sushi King. with their not fresh raw fish and uncooked rice. anyway, I was so glad to have found this place in Gwanghwamun where they serve Japanese food that I’ve never even once had back in Malaysia (though it might be available as well).

the entrance. the location isn’t as easy to find but it is pretty near Gwanghwamun exit 1. Continue reading “[Seoul: Gwanghwamun] Yamaya”

Korean Food 101

HI! I’ve been wanting to write this post forever but I hadn’t collected enough pictures to do so. even now, too, actually. but at least I’ve gathered up enough pictures for post number 1! ^^

IMG_0038 copy

#1 Belgian waffle. sometimes it’s really costly but sometimes it can be rather fair.  but the one above costed around 16,000won (that is RM48 holyyyyyy). friend bought it but still it was T________T. we had it in a nice cafe at Samcheongdong. the cheaper ones would cost around 3,000won ^^. but of course much smaller and.. there’s no fruits and ice cream haha. and view.
