[Seoul: Hyehwa] PURE GOROKE (CLOSED)

because that is how 순결한 고로케 is directly translated into, PURE Goroke. goroke, or gorokke or koroke, is actually Japanese. fried on the outside and something soft and yummy on the inside. it can be cheese, goguma (sweet potato), vegetables.. you name it. it is normally round and so super delicious. I can never get enough. for a fussy person on fried food, I personally love koroke because they are usually not too oily and it is fried to perfection.

(many tourists may thing that eating Japanese food in Korea is an utter waste of time and money but believe me, this is totally going to be worth it.)

혜화/대학로 길거리에서 파는 순결한 고로케 정말로 글로 표현할 수 없는 정도로 맛있습니다!

August: Food, Bukchon, Food, M.Net.

my title pretty much sums up my whole post for today. since I am having my exams soon so I have not been going out T_T. hence I will need to blog about stuff that are way overdue where I’ve been saving them as fillers anyway. =D. on August, my best friend, Megumi came to visit! I was so glad because we hadn’t met since March when we graduated T_T. she left right after our graduation ceremony le sigh.

IMG_3873 copy

we went for Japanese food after a few rounds of Korean food. the silliest thing is that Megumi insisted on going for Fukuoka food when she’s from Fukuoka! because I love the restaurant and she wanted to have Japanese food with me since we’ve never had it together before. but she said it’s good even for a Fukuokan standard so no regrets haha. [Seoul: Gwanghwamun] Yamaya

the thing about Seoul is.. there is no such thing as Yoshinoya nor Sushi Zanmai. you Malaysians should really appreciate the fact that you have Sushi Zanmai because it is so darn good. in Korea, the cheaper sushi restaurants serve sushi 10 times worst than Sushi King. with their not fresh raw fish and uncooked rice. anyway, I was so glad to have found this place in Gwanghwamun where they serve Japanese food that I’ve never even once had back in Malaysia (though it might be available as well).

the entrance. the location isn’t as easy to find but it is pretty near Gwanghwamun exit 1. Continue reading “[Seoul: Gwanghwamun] Yamaya”

Korean Indian Curry? (CLOSED)

Korean Curry?

had a lot of them, in fact. my boarding house cooks it every week.

Indian Curry?

well, I am from Malaysia. =D.

Korean Indian Curry? now that’s a fusion. if the shop isn’t operated by Indians and their shop is labelled as an “Indian Curry” shop. be prepared to try the weirdest curry of all the weirdest curry. the Korean Indian Curry.

went to this shop I’d always walked pass in Hongdae. it’s next to that scary comedy theater. it’s called “DELHI”. if you’re facing Hongik University, go to your left and walk straight and you will see it on the left hand side of the road.

IMG_1578 copy

finally paid this famous (I think, judging that every time I walk pass, it’s pretty filled.) a visit and to my surprise, it is actually not bad! I wouldn’t say it is cheap food but it is IN budget. and definitely cheaper compared to the authentic Indian Curry restaurants here in Seoul. Continue reading “Korean Indian Curry? (CLOSED)”

The Authentic Japanese Restaurant, Sumi-Ka @ SS15

IMG_6172

located at the more quiet side of SS15, Subang Jaya, it’s actually pretty close to the colleges around. weird how it isn’t that known or noticeable arond. but to my surprise, you need to BOOK before you get there because it’s always filled. judging from how most of the shops around barely have 10% of their tables filled. Continue reading “The Authentic Japanese Restaurant, Sumi-Ka @ SS15”

[Malaysia: Pavilion KL] Ochado

the huge Chatime opened outside Lot 10 but the one in Pavilion is still going to take 30minutes for you to get your drink. so, the alternative is OCHADO, the one located at Tokyo Street. of course, they all have a queue. but it only took us roughly 5minutes for all the queuing up and waiting for the drink. much better, no?

IMG_5103 copy

to be honest, this is actually my first time having Ochado and I was really curious on how different it might taste since it have a very similar concept with my favourite Chatime. Continue reading “[Malaysia: Pavilion KL] Ochado”

[Malaysia: Jalan Delima] the Old Hajime is now Coco Tei

when Hajime@Jalan Damai disappeared without notice. it was like the end of us being able to get awesome (Tokyo) Japanese cuisine in KL. after having tasted what Hajime had offered, you’ll probably not find anything as good in KL anymore. not only me, but even my friends; we were all devastated from its closure and wondered where it went. we REFUSED to think that it closed down. we knew it moved somewhere.

we tried googling, but for months.. no news. and suddenly, one day, a friend told me,

“did you know? Hajime is now back. but as Coco.Tei?” Continue reading “[Malaysia: Jalan Delima] the Old Hajime is now Coco Tei”

[Tokyo: Shinjuku] THE LOCK UP

good thing about having a friend your age overseas is that they know all the cool hang out spots and also, the most special places.

I was very keen on wanting to look for perhaps some maid cafe or a place with those sort of cutesy decoration. but my friend, Sherlyn had a better idea because those are pretty old school now. so she then asked me, would you like to dine in a haunted jail??

IMG_4770

and that’s where we went hunting for the cafe. Shinjuku is pretty big and complex and getting there would probably be a problem if you don’t know the place well. because.. Continue reading “[Tokyo: Shinjuku] THE LOCK UP”
