[Taiwan: Taipei] Grand Mayfull Hotel REVIEW

if you follow me on instagram, you’d know that I recently went to Taipei for a short getaway. the thing I was looking forward to the most was spending time with my boyfriend whom I’m in a long distance relationship with. and I think choosing a comfortable place where we can spend quality time together is crucial. coincidentally, I was invited by Grand Mayfull Hotel to review their hotel and it got me all excited! I went through their website and I was IMPRESSED. however, you’d never know how great it is until you’ve experience it first hand. hence here’s my review! (I am an honest person plus I wasn’t paid so you may rely on my comments!)

note that because I was brought on a hotel tour, this post is very complete and long. if you are considering on which hotels to stay and wants to have a look at the different rooms and amenities, or just simply love hotels, you’re at the right place!

[HK: Central] Sing Heung Yuen Tomato Noodles

there aren’t many dai-pai-dong’s left in Hong Kong but Sing Heung Yuen is actually one of the very few that still exists until today! so what is a daipaidong? it literally means big board stall. but it really mean open air stalls where you can sit by the road side and dine like an old school local.

[Seoul: Gwanghwamun] Spicy Eel 공평동 꼼장어

recently discovered this place while walking around Gwanghwamun in search for a good restaurant and uh.. well, this place has the highest rating in a Korean foodie app so I thought I’d give it a try. they mainly sell eel, but they also sell many other things like mini octopuses, pork, chicken feet, pig’s skin, huge prawns… but most of them are spicy. the best dish there’s the eel so you don’t have to consider anything else if you’re visiting for the first time haha. be nice.

those who’s a close follower of my blog will know how much I’ve been through especially the past few months. these past few months got me thinking even harder about who I really am, my purpose in life and how I want to live it. and trust me, after you go through some real hardships, life seem to be so much brighter and easier. what I went through made me realize how lucky I am to be able to have freedom, to make my own choices, and therefore I shall not take my freedom for granted.

but most importantly, it also taught me to be nicer to others. I mean, it doesn’t hurt to be nice, really.

I used to be really competitive and I also had a lot of resentment and hate, being jealous and upset at people whom are better than me (especially academically), resenting people who mistreated me, ignoring people whom I think are bad, and I may also have been mean to people whom actions I am not too fond of, but I am trying harder to find out more about why they do the things they do and try to respect that; and be nice. [HK] TOP 5 Scenic Hikes in Hong Kong

so after living in Hong Kong for close to three months during the entire fall, I found my new love: hiking.

I realized that the Hong Kongers really enjoy hiking only after this trip. hiking wouldn’t have even had crossed my mind as a(n Asian) tourist. the past 4 times I’ve been in HK, I cannot think of anything else other than shopping, eating and the occasional drinking/clubbing. this time, to get me healthy, my boyfriend suggested we hike. and my oh my, I thought HK is a concrete jungle; but it is only partly true. little did I know, it has its nature well preserved too!

while there are a whole lot of trails, I would like to list 5 of the hikes I think has the best views in HK!
