Opening Party

I am finally done with my exams in Yonsei University and am looking forward to graduate this coming Friday! it’s quite saddening because I am probably the only few who won’t be wearing a Hanbok (traditional Korean costume. which my mom hates. she thinks it makes all girls look fat lol.) because I will have to get to Sungkyunkwan for a lecture right after and wearing a long heavy dress or bringing it around isn’t an easy task. besides, renting it costs about RM450 and since I have classes the whole day that day, I will be spending RM450 for 1 hour. just to look good. totally not worth it T_T. I know I will have more chances in wearing it next time =/.

I thought, “okay, I am finally a little bit more free to do whatever I want and stuff but I was wrong. I need to study like a dog because I have to attend MT (stands for membership training. but it’s actually a trip to a pension where you drink, drink and drink with your course mates until you get totally wasted. korean’s way of getting closer to each other. no joke.). thanks to that, I have to finish all my due-on-Monday homework and get done watching my online lectures which are relatively hard. I “only” have one long essay and a summary to do but the online lectures and the homework due this week are the pain in the arse. sigh. happy cramming to me?

back to topic, the week before last week was what we call the “kaepa” which stands for 캐강파피 (kae-gang-pa-ti) which means the party for the starting of the semester. but I’ll just call it opening party anyways. the last time we went drinking as a class was on the Orientation Day, but I had exams the following day and left early. so this time I was prepared to drink more as I was still a phail in games but surprisingly, did not end up drunk (반 친구들, 이걸 읽으면 나를 막 마시게 하지마세요 ㅠㅠ.).

the thing I like about Sungkyunkwan is we are actually studying in a historical place itself. well, not that we are using the old buildings and all, but you can say we are right next to them? and we can go in anytime we want. plus, the walls surrounding our school are those korean old-school walls. which made it even more awesome! Pyeong Chang Special Olympic Games & Snow K-POP Festival

just a week ago I was here in Pyeongchang as it is near Seorak Mountain. but before I blog about my school trip to Seorak Mountain, I would like to share a little bit with you about this fabulous event held in a famous Ski Resort, Alpensia Resort. I thought I was at another country.

the scenic view in Pyeongchang. mmmm. travelling 3 hours here was definitely worth it. but it’s just such a pity that we didn’t get to go to the beach this time. Continue reading “Pyeong Chang Special Olympic Games & Snow K-POP Festival”

Jjim Dalg 찜닭 and 100%

only found in the last 10-20 years, Andong Jjimdalg is a very famous Korean Dish. I myself, am a big fan of this dish but I do not always eat this dish because it is not cheap U_U.

IMG_9261 copy

normally cooked with chewy glass noodles and mixed vegetables, this dish can be topped with the famous korean fried rice, which can be cooked with the sauce of basically any leftovers. eg : ddeokbokki sauce too! Continue reading “Jjim Dalg 찜닭 and 100%”

[Cheongju] 청주, visiting the filming set of Baker King Kim Tak Goo and Man of Honour!

I am not sure if I should say that I am lazy to split the post into a few parts or I am too hardworking that I’ll blog one whole long post. but I consider myself lazy so here goes. I went to Cheongju to see my best friend, Peter, who came out from the army for holidays. his family lives in Cheongju and hence I had to take a bus down to Cheongju. it takes around 90minutes to arrive and costs 8,000won from Dong-Seoul station. I went to Cheongju twice in a week actually. but I will blog about my first part as I did not take too many pictures the 2nd time.

putting my size 5.5 (235) feet beside my size 13 friend’s shoe. MADNESS. I felt like a kid. Continue reading “[Cheongju] 청주, visiting the filming set of Baker King Kim Tak Goo and Man of Honour!”

[Seoul: Samcheongdong] Hanjeongsik 한정식

the one Korean food that I’ve failed to try even though I’ve been here for so long is Hanjeongsik. it is one of the most expensive meals around. costing at least 10,000won for the cheapest one which doesn’t include you starters. it serves you an array of side dishes which are refillable. costing around 15,000won-20,000won on average, it’s worth it if you keeeeeep eating. like a buffet. okay maybe not. but similar.

Hanjeongsiks were formerly served to aristocrats and the high and mighty. but today, even we commoners can have a chance to have a taste of it.

my family, a cousin came here and he said he’ll buy me anything yummy so yeah! Hanjeongsik it is! my family tree is filled with handsome guys and pretty girls. although I am one of the few odd ones. but heck, look at my sister and my cousin! Clubbing in Seoul PART 2

this is actually a more organized version of the last post about clubs in Seoul. I’ve updated my last blog post which is listed on my “travel” page with the information below as well. this time, I’ve gathered much more information and I hope this answers some of your questions. note that every 10,000won is RM30. [Seoul: Namsan] Hiking Up Namsan Tower

one of the things I’ve always wanted to do is hike up Namsan Tower during Autumn and I did! well it’s already winter now but you can do the same for Spring, Summer or Autumn because it’s a good time to hike up. I took the cable car before and I think it’s an utter waste of money and time. why do I say time? because the queue is madness. why not just enjoy the nature while hiking up? it isn’t as difficult as it may seem. I am a weak girl who doesn’t ever exercise and I am saying this so you can take my word for it. but if you have an elderly with you of course taking the cable car (or the taxi) would be a better choice.

IMG_7489 copy

I blogged about the directions before so look for it at my older Namsan posts! but anyway, this is the start of the trail. many trees still green. either that or bald. the weather this time around was pretty bad because it rained so bad and the autumn leaves fall so quickly. [Seoul: Edae] make your own cake!

the good thing about living in Korea is that there are 101 types of different activities for lovers. well, not only lovers can do these sort of stuff sometimes. we were the only ones who were not preparing the cake for our lovers. but we still had loads of fun!

every stick costs 700won. expensive. yes I know. 2 Marshmallow costs 1000won. 2 puny Marshmallows. hah. I can buy a whole bag of it from Olive Young or Watsons with that price. well if you are a cheapskate like me you can always leave a space on the cake and buy your marshmallows and decorations later =P. Yonsei’s Winter Sonata II

we all love our teacher a lot and we wanted to give her a memorable last day with us. so we gathered and made her a cake (decorating it only, actually.) and she was really touched =3. she went around boasting it to other teachers it was so funny hahaha. Continue reading “Yonsei’s Winter Sonata II”
