[Malaysia: Soho KL] Apgujeong

so an oppa I knew told me, there’s this Korean restaurant in Soho KL that serves food even better than most restaurants you can find in Seoul.

he wasn’t even kidding.

Touristy Malaysian

Having not been back for 2 years, I find myself rather touristy. and since Megumi came all the way to visit me here in Malaysia, my tourist mode boost to its max. and yeah, although I study in Korea, I seem to always mingle amongst Japanese people. well there are a few Americans, Canadians and.. Europeans too.

back to the topic. since Megumi came, I have been to many places I’ve never been nor was I interested in going. and surprisingly those pictures turned out pretty well. I guess it’s similar to how I’d always dissed my friends in Korea for not having been to Nami Island or Namdaemun when I’ve been there for over 10 times perhaps.

[Kyoto] Arashiyama – Bamboo Grove

so upon exiting the garden, we found ourselves at the famous bamboo grove of Arashiyama!

this is another popular landmark of Kyoto other than Kinkakuji. Although I personally prefer Ginkakuji over Kinkakuji. I loved the bamboo grove though. and I felt it is really a must visit if you have at least 2 days in Kyoto. it isn’t number 1 on my list but it is more than just one-visit worthy.

somebody please tell me what they say hhahahaa. Continue reading “[Kyoto] Arashiyama – Bamboo Grove”

[Kyoto] Arashiyama – Togetsugyo Bridge

it is a little complicating to travel around Kyoto but it is definitely cheaper than many other cities as you can ride on the bus as much as you want for only 500yen.

note: the buses in Japan are quite different from Seoul and other places. you get on the bus from behind and pay in front. for the day pass, just get in front and tell the bus driver and make sure you prepare 500yen! I am not sure how to ride on it normally because apparently the fares are all different depending on where you’re riding. so if you’re riding for more than 2 bus rides or a far one, the day pass would be best. and later on you can just flash your card (showing the date) to the drivers and enjoy unlimited rides! will blog about that next time! and pay another 500yen and you can take unlimited subway/train as well! but we only opted for the bus as we don’t take the subway too much.

however, we took the train there!

[Kyoto] Kyoto Station Sky Walk

I actually have no idea what this walk is called but it is situated at the highest part of Kyoto Station and it is BEAUTIFUL. I am pretty sure it looks just as beautiful in the day but tad bit more romantic at night ^^.

CIMG3935 copy

such amazing steel and glass architecture =3. alongside with the shooting stars which I guess are only available around Christmas. the sky walk is from the ramen floor and the whole right side of the walk has ramen exhibitions showing the many many many kinds of amazing ramen. but my favourite is still ABURA SOBA!!! [Kyoto] Shijo, Gion & Kyoto Station

first day in Kyoto was amazing because I went to so many places in just a few hours. basically the famous few hang out places are pretty cramped up in the middle of Kyoto and they are either of walking distance or just a bus ride away.

IMG_4143 copy

above’s Shijo. there are like rows of shops and I can say.. it’s awesome. I loved it there. and at the end of the street there’s my favourite Sabazushi shop as well. there are loads of shopping and also.. OPA!!! though the name is weird but there are plenty of pretty shops in there!!! Continue reading “[Kyoto] Shijo, Gion & Kyoto Station”

Departing Korea

So it has been 2 years since I came to Korea and I have never left ever since. In fact, I’ve never traveled alone. as in, on a holiday. I always had a family member with me. but this time, I am alllllllllllll by myself. which is great. and scary at the same time.

got to the airport really early so I went to make some really adorable Korean traditional craft pouches. Continue reading “Departing Korea”

[Seoul: Sinchon] Choco Blossom

I love chocolate yes. but I do not usually drink hot chocolate. most places serve hot chocolate only nice for a few sips and it just gets really disgusting after that. but the ones here at Cherry Blossom is DA BOMB. I am not even kidding. it is so hard to explain. seriously.

because I can’t take coffee, I’ve always ordered chocolate drinks back in Malaysia whenever friends go to starbucks (and you know the other non-caffeine drinks are just so so.) which had contributed to me being sick of hot chocolate drinks.

when Jia Yii told me about this place I had doubts and I would really prefer something else like green tea latte. but I still gave it a shot anyway since he was really sure I was going to like it. and I did.

CIMG3641 copy

they have these amazing seats upstairs for you to lay down and it is perfect for couples. super duper romantic in my opinion hehehe. and because it is christmas they also placed these huge teddy bears on every seat. but the place is rather small so getting a place upstairs was some real luck. [Seoul: Dongdaemun] Dalg Han Mari 닭한마리

as much as I love food, there are certain Korean food that I’ve never tried because I thought that they’d taste bland or just food for those who can’t take spicy food or even something that I think that I might not like. basically I’d skip most things that doesn’t involve a little spice or pepper in it.

but little did I know, that the bland looking Dalghanmari (it means one chicken) actually has a adjustable spicy sauce! you can dip your bland looking chicken in that heavenly sauce and it is just.. purrrrfect.

CIMG3573 copy

so the place I went to is called 진옥화할매 닭한마리 Jin Ok Hwa Hal Mae Dalg Han Mari located at Dongdaemun. if you’d ask me how to get there again, I don’t think I can get there without my phone’s GPS. it’s located at some secluded area where you’d never guess that there’s restaurants filled with people. we walked pass the first Dalghanmari shop and it was packed. but my friend told me that I must go for the second one.. where there’s even a line outside.
