[Osaka: Tenjinbashi] Owl Cafe

if you’re a bird person then you should have heard about how Japan’s taken over by these owl cafes. not only is owning an owl (very very expensive pet) becoming a trend, stores don’t just sell owls anymore but they are earning by letting you pet very softly on their owls and shower them with human love!

there are quite a number of these owl cafe’s but I decided to go to the one with the MOST owls! although it’s located literally at nowhere, we were practically their last customer of their day. since it was raining cats and dogs that day, it wasn’t so full. I’ve read reviews how you have to come here and put yourself on a list (they don’t accept over the phone bookings) a few hours before you actually get a place since they limit like.. 6 or 8(?) couples of 2 in only. [Seoul: Yongsan] High Tea @ Sheraton D-cube Hotel Seoul

so not too long ago, I went to Sheraton to try that very unique looking tea set of theirs. since the.. name of the hotel is D-cube, the tea set’s pretty cubical and because it’s December, I get to order the CHRISTMAS SET!!!

I have never actually been high-tea-ing before because I am a cheapskate like that. but.. Sheraton’s prices is pretty reasonable. one glass of drink there would probably cost around 13,000won to 15,000won already but the tea set + the tea’s 17,500won. still pretty expensive I know T_T. but I guess it’s worth the experience!

when we arrived, the place was already full and we had to wait for a place. and for just 2 of us, they gave us a 6 person seat hahaha. Continue reading “[Seoul: Yongsan] High Tea @ Sheraton D-cube Hotel Seoul”

[Kyoto: Hanamidori] The Famous Kinana Ice Cream, Gion

Gion is perhaps my favourite place in Kyoto and I would only like to complain that there’s too much to see. there are not just a lot of places to visit but also a whole lot of places to eat at! other than my Jouvencelle, I visited the famous Kinana which were reviewed by many Korean bloggers. I have a friend whom had passed me their card and tell me that I must go there when I go back to Kyoto.

it’s some health ice cream I heard.

so how to get there?

IMG_8149 copy

first, get to Hanami-koji! literally mean place to see flowers. I guess it’s a metaphor for a place to see Geishas hahaha. Continue reading “[Kyoto: Hanamidori] The Famous Kinana Ice Cream, Gion”

[Kyoto: Gion] Jouvencelle, a one of a kind cafe.

after reading about this amazing cafe on kyotofoodie where he said is his favourite cafe, I told myself that I HAVE to come here one day despite how expensive it looks. Jouvencelle, which I believe means young (girl) is a cafe located at Gion, it isn’t located at the brightest place but because it is next to Yakasa Jinja, it makes it a little bit more easier to find.

Directions : basically, just get into Yasaka Jinja (or Yasaka Shrine) and head right and look for an exit on the right side. upon exit, walk straight and you’ll see Jouvencelle.

Jouvencelle is located on the second floor to this pottery/porcelain shop. see that green cloth? that’s the entrance to Jouvencelle. Continue reading “[Kyoto: Gion] Jouvencelle, a one of a kind cafe.”

[Kyoto] Popular Japanese Cafe in Gion Shijo

you’ve got to admit that the cafe is a popular one when locals tell you they are and when the whole cafe is packed with local Japanese people waiting in line to get seated.

this cafe is located on the left row of shops beside the Shijo Dori road towards Yasaka Jinja Shrine. Continue reading “[Kyoto] Popular Japanese Cafe in Gion Shijo”

[Seoul: Hyehwa] Hakrim Coffee : Popular Drama Cafe

watched “you who came from the stars?” or 별에서 온 그대? the famous drama had definitely brought a lot of new customers to this cafe despite appearing in several dramas before. and because of its old history, this cafe was chosen to be the meet up point of “Do Minjun” and his old friend.

CIMG9613 copy

so back to Hakrim Coffee, this cafe was founded in the 1960s and has been around for a longgg time. not sure if the publicity is good or not but this already popular among old folks cafe is now swarmed by young tourists especially from Asia. so do expect to wait if you’re here during peak hours. [Seoul: Sinchon] Choco Blossom

I love chocolate yes. but I do not usually drink hot chocolate. most places serve hot chocolate only nice for a few sips and it just gets really disgusting after that. but the ones here at Cherry Blossom is DA BOMB. I am not even kidding. it is so hard to explain. seriously.

because I can’t take coffee, I’ve always ordered chocolate drinks back in Malaysia whenever friends go to starbucks (and you know the other non-caffeine drinks are just so so.) which had contributed to me being sick of hot chocolate drinks.

when Jia Yii told me about this place I had doubts and I would really prefer something else like green tea latte. but I still gave it a shot anyway since he was really sure I was going to like it. and I did.

CIMG3641 copy

they have these amazing seats upstairs for you to lay down and it is perfect for couples. super duper romantic in my opinion hehehe. and because it is christmas they also placed these huge teddy bears on every seat. but the place is rather small so getting a place upstairs was some real luck. [Seoul: Hongdae] 아뜰리에 데코아발림 Atelier Decoa Ballim

one of the best cheesecake they said. I read about this cafe on many blogs and they have all given awesome comments on their not-so-mainstream cheesecake.

IMG_3537 copy

located at Hongdae; or  near Sangsu Station exit 1. included a map at the bottom of the post =). this place look like they serve very nice brunch as well but I forgot to take a picture of their very cute menu. =D. I think I am losing the blogging sense =S. Continue reading “[Seoul: Hongdae] 아뜰리에 데코아발림 Atelier Decoa Ballim”

[Seoul: Sinchon] Cafe Container : Patbingsu Tower

so a few days ago Wai Kit sent me a picture of this tower patbingsu and asked me if I was interested. I’ve known about this oreo patbingsu for a long time since I often walk pass it. but little did I know, their oreo patbingsu is incredulously tall.

IMG_2024 copy

the location is rather easy to find. it’s on that road from U-plex (Sinchon) towards Megabox (Edae). for foreigners it might be a little tricky. but just get off at Sinchon (line 2 green line) and take the the U-plex (complex exit and you will see the red mirror tube thingy) exit. cross over to the other side of the road (you will see Etude House on the other side of the road.). you should see Krispy Kreme, Look Optical and Olive young on your side of the road as you walk. just walk straight!!!!!!!!!!! about 5 minutes walk. just keep on your side of the road. BoA’s Only One filming location @ aA The Design Museum, Hongdae

aA The Design Museum @ Hongdae. I can’t really recommend you where to go because MOST of the Cafe’s in Hongdae are pretty and are priced at the same range and have yummy drinks all in all. but it’s right at the end of the Hongdae Road near that SangSangMadang area crossing the famous Ddeokbokki shop and turn left then right.

IMG_1767 copy

this place is HUGE. like HUGE. very spacious. there are 2 types of cafes. one are the huge ones like this one. another type are the small cozy little ones which I can assure you that they’re real good places to hang out at as well.
