the drain that turned into a stream.

THIS. is. Cheonggyecheon Stream.

little did I know, this beautiful stream was once a drain when somebody awesome had the idea to turn it into one of Seoul’s major attraction today.

this is only my MORNING Cheonggyecheon post. I am looking forward on going there again at night as I’ve heard that it’s even more beautiful. but I’ve always loved the sunlight when it comes to photographing. hmm. Continue reading “the drain that turned into a stream.”

LIFE IN YONSEI : first 3 days of school.

FUH.

sorry for the lack of updates even though it has only been 2 days. hahaha. initially I thought I could blog everyday since I am so free here. but because of Yonsei’s high standard (and also because many students have said that the gap between level 2 and 3 is really huge) I am now studying at least for a few hours a day. [Seoul: Samsung] COEX Mall.

the other day the wind was blowing so hard and it later snowed. we had no where to go but into an enclosed place so we decided to go to COEX Mall. getting to Samsung Station is pretty far from the Sinchon (Hongdae, Edae) area but is close to places like Gangnam.

this is not COEX hahah. it’s actually the huge installation art outside U-Plex. Continue reading “[Seoul: Samsung] COEX Mall.”

[Seoul: Edae] Shopping Heaven

although Seoul is quite an affordable place to shop at, most things are pretty (to me, VERY.) expensive especially if you shop at malls liek Doota and so on. other than Dongdaemun, the alternative choice is Edae. I’ve previously blogged about Edae briefly but I would like to focus more on this one super crowded lane in Edae.

I went there about 5 and it was REALLY REALLY crowded.

IMG_7506 copy

like this. on your way walking to Ewha Univ. there is a smaller lane on the left with a lot of people. and there is where you should start your shopping adventure. Continue reading “[Seoul: Edae] Shopping Heaven”

LIFE IN YONSEI : Orientation Day.

I have never been to an orientation day before. I went into my coll late the last time too so I had never experienced any sort of orientation.

but……

I think I expected too much.

I’ve always thought that at orientations they will bring you around the whole school and perhaps have some ice breaking sessions hahahah. okay, I guess I’ve really thought too much. and, I didn’t get to make as much friends and I thought I would PFFFFFFFFT. made another friend from Dominican who’s half Korean!

IMG_7199 copy

the auditorium was so filled, some people couldn’t even come in! but later they divided everyone according to the languages we speak and fuh. like 70% was gone. around 40% of the students here are Japanese and around 30% of them are from China! Continue reading “LIFE IN YONSEI : Orientation Day.”

짬뽕! JJAMBBONG! (CLOSED)

한양짬뽕은 유명한 짬뽕가게이에요. 정말 맛있어요. 여기에서 짬뽕을 먹어 봐요!

IMG_7049 copy

this shop seems like a famous shop with all its TV interviews and all. they are priced reasonably too! apparently, jjambbong is a Koreanfied Chinese food. which me, a Chinese, have never heard of. haha. but it’s basically ramyun (not the instant noodles type. the REAL ramyun) cooked with seafood soup. Continue reading “짬뽕! JJAMBBONG! (CLOSED)”

LIFE IN YONSEI : Placement Test.

HELLO ALL!

IMG_7183 copy

a placement test isa test which you take to see which level you get on. in Yonsei, similar to any University that offers Korean Language is divided to 6 levels which follows the TOPIK leveling system. but there is also a 8 level course designed specifically for native English speakers. but that would take 6 months more to complete where the usual one only requires 1 year and a half to finish. [Seoul: Hongdae] Hongdae Free Market.

or the Hongdae Art Market as how I would prefer to call it.

located right next to the Hongdae playground, this little flea market is pretty interesting. mostly things handmade. I dare not go close to each shop to capture their products as some had a no picture sign on it. =(. if I am not mistaken some of the vendors are students from Hongik University =D.

IMG_6927 copy

opens at 1pm every Saturday (from March to November) Continue reading “[Seoul: Hongdae] Hongdae Free Market.”
