I am very crazy when it comes to food. other than bugs, monkeys and dogs (or any kind of pet or endangered animals like whale or tigers pfft) , I pretty much eat everything. since I ate Sannakji (raw octopus) and definitely don’t mind eating something as disgusting as fermented raw fishes =D.
I’d blog about Jagalchi Market in a separate blog post, but just so you know, Jagalchi Market is at Nampo-dong as well, right opposite PIFF. and so my adventure on searching for disgusting weird food started. and we thought it wasn’t that weird until we asked what it was. because from the looks of it, it just look like some pig’s stomach thingy. which later when we ate it, it did not taste anything like it. it literally translates to “let’s eat alley”.
there are basically only a few types of food there in a row sold by ajumma’s (do not call them ajumma’s. it’s rude. called them imo). not very difficult to find, it’s right opposite the PIFF (something like the Arena of Stars in HK) road. basically an alley connecting to the Gwangbok-ro Shopping Street (Busan’s Myeongdong, even better.)

BUSAN IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. if only I knew it was this pretty I should’ve went there on the hottest day of Summer. but even so, I am at least 3 shades tanner now T_T. there are so much more to come and I can’t wait to tell you more about Busan. as for now I shall get to bed. there’s this pretty damn awesome Sundubu Jjigae restaurant in Sinchon (if you come out from the Subway station in front of U-Plex then you should take a U-turn upon exit and you will see a road on the right where you have to cross a huger road to get there. it’s the first few shops on the leftside of the road.) shall blog about this shop next time. but the point of this post is just to let you know about what to do when you see something weird in Korea and have no idea how to ask what are those for.

dear foodies/korean addicts. you think you read the 100 things you must eat in Seoul is enough? not yet, because most of them did not introduce you to the famous Suljib (Alcohol place) soup, the fish egg soup. we call it the “al-tang”.
I absolutely love the al-tang. they are chopped in bite sizes and the soup are usually filled with it. yummy. usually a little spicy and has a lot of tofu in it as well. it isn’t me who’s graduating of course! I will be level 5 next semester and my graduation ceremony? end of March if I do not have to resit level 5 which was told to be the hardest.
so looking at how my seniors graduate, giving speeches until I want to cry myself wth. I can’t imagine how it would be like having to leave our friends. even now our friends have left us one by one. =S. but when we leave.. we would really miss each other. one of my missions are to introduce you to not only the special but the local favourites here. and one of it is the FIST RICE! it directly translates to fist rice from Korean because 주목밥 Jumok = fist, bab = rice. my friend told me that the usual Jumokbabs are meant for the poor pfft because it’s huger than a fist and has tuna fillings in it usually. costing 1,5000KRW.
but my first Jumokbab experience was much more fancy as we had bulgogi, spam, kimchi bokkeum etc as fillings. they are also smaller than normal Jumokbabs and they cost 2,5000won-3,000won onwards. but I am pretty sure I am paying for the taste and the variety because it’s really damn good.
this shop is right outside Lotte World called KONG’S RICEBALL. it’s a chain restaurant so if you see any just barge into it =3. that day it was already late but the place was still packed with people.
hungry girl. to eat inside Lotte World you gotta prepare 8,000won for an ordinary Korean Meal that would cost you 4,000won. I’d rather come out have these deliciously expensive riceballs. Continue reading “Jumok-bab/Fist Rice/Riceball”
