Nami Island in Autumn 남이섬의 가을

woke up at 6 in the morning, got out on 730 and reached Dong Seoul Bus Terminal (Gangbyeon Subway Station) at 8 something. but took off later at 9am and reached there at 10 something~. there’s another way to get there by subway directly to Gapyeong and take either a bus or a taxi from there. taking the bus is errrrrr. a little bit more expensive but more comfortable seats =D. at Gangbyeon Station, you still have to take a cab or another bus to Nami Island. it’s okay to walk as well actually. =D. it’s just that as first timers you might not know the way so…. taking the taxi would cost about 3,000-4,000won. depending on the traffic actually.

on the Namimaid ferry. basically the only way you can get to Nami Island other than literally “flying” there via flying fox. which costs a bomb. Continue reading “Nami Island in Autumn 남이섬의 가을”

why I fell in love with Autumn

and it isn’t a recent thing. I’ve been in love since I was 8. watching Autumn in my heart the first time on TV being amazed with the beauty of the autumn tree leaves. being here, it’s like a dream come true. I absolutely marveled around trees. to the extent that I’ve hugged them. okay I am weird I admit. but being able to live through Autumn is really amazing. so even if the air tickets costs for for Autumn, try making it for this season which lasts not more than a month. Autumn just started about 2 weeks ago. so it’s at its peak now. I took the whole day out to go shooting with a fellow Malaysian yesterday. he has an awesome super professional camera but here’s a little (okay maybe not so little) of what I was able to capture with my own camera.

we started our photoscape journey getting of the bus at Gyeongbokgung. and oh, those are ginko trees. they have the worst smelling fruit. it’s exactly like how I’d imagine a dead Raffleasia to smell like. Continue reading “why I fell in love with Autumn”

Nurungjitang 누룽지탕

there’s this pretty damn awesome Sundubu Jjigae restaurant in Sinchon (if you come out from the Subway station in front of U-Plex then you should take a U-turn upon exit and you will see a road on the right where you have to cross a huger road to get there. it’s the first few shops on the leftside of the road.) shall blog about this shop next time. but the point of this post is just to let you know about what to do when you see something weird in Korea and have no idea how to ask what are those for.

Fish Egg Soup / Al-Tang

dear foodies/korean addicts. you think you read the 100 things you must eat in Seoul is enough? not yet, because most of them did not introduce you to the famous Suljib (Alcohol place) soup, the fish egg soup. we call it the “al-tang”.

IMG_3754 copy

I absolutely love the al-tang. they are chopped in bite sizes and the soup are usually filled with it. yummy. usually a little spicy and has a lot of tofu in it as well. I am not a big fan of tofu just like Mr.JeremyTeo, but eating it with the aromatic soup, it’s pretty good! Continue reading “Fish Egg Soup / Al-Tang”

[Seoul: Sinchon] Ashley W+ : American Grill & Salad

one of the most popular chain buffet restaurants in Korea, and is found almost everywhere. Myeongdong, Gangnam and of course, Sinchon. and coincidentally, the “highest class” one is in Sinchon =D.

Jumok-bab/Fist Rice/Riceball

one of my missions are to introduce you to not only the special but the local favourites here. and one of it is the FIST RICE! it directly translates to fist rice from Korean because 주목밥 Jumok = fist, bab = rice. my friend told me that the usual Jumokbabs are meant for the poor pfft because it’s huger than a fist and has tuna fillings in it usually. costing 1,5000KRW.

but my first Jumokbab experience was much more fancy as we had bulgogi, spam, kimchi bokkeum etc as fillings. they are also smaller than normal Jumokbabs and they cost 2,5000won-3,000won onwards. but I am pretty sure I am paying for the taste and the variety because it’s really damn good.

this shop is right outside Lotte World called KONG’S RICEBALL. it’s a chain restaurant so if you see any just barge into it =3. that day it was already late but the place was still packed with people.

hungry girl. to eat inside Lotte World you gotta prepare 8,000won for an ordinary Korean Meal that would cost you 4,000won. I’d rather come out have these deliciously expensive riceballs. Continue reading “Jumok-bab/Fist Rice/Riceball”

[Seoul: Sinchon] 8 Color Pork Belly Meat

well that’s kind of the direct translation of  “pal saek samgyupsal”, 8 color pork belly meat. haha. it’s very easy to find. just get to Sinchon and take exit 6, walk towards Sogang University but instead of walking on the left side of the road walk on the right side. and you’ll definitely see it.

it’s a chain so you might come across the one in Daehakno and the other one near Sinchon U-plex as well.

the shop is located underground and there’s a huge pig on the logo. Continue reading “[Seoul: Sinchon] 8 Color Pork Belly Meat”
