I’m addicted to Kimchi.

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Since the very first time I had korean BBQ in Genting Highlands ( It’s not there anymore, heard it shifted to gohtong jaya or something ) when I’m 12, I began to love Korean food. Before that, I don’t even know how Korean food look like! But the way they marinate the meat, the flavours of all their stews really turned on my taste buds! I remember I grew up with Japanese food, Japanese animations and Japanese origami, and then my mom took me to a Korean restaurant for a change. And now I love Korean food, Korean drama’s and Korean clothes. And now, my mom is sick of taking me to Korean restaurants every time!

And now, coincidently I know somebody who’s Korean ( my sun seng nim!) and his mother is like one of the best Korean cooks here in Malaysia! BUT, the saddest thing is that his mom wants to go back to Korea and the restaurant will no longer have such a good cook T_T.

Kimchi!

About Kimchi, (I’ll just tell what I know =P) it is a traditional Korean fermented dish made of vegetables (usually cabbage) with some seasonings ( onions, ginger, etc. ) served as a side dish/banchan and is really popular too. I’ve never had any korean meals that doesn’t serve kimchi. It’s sour and spicy, crunchy too! But not ALL kimchi might suit your taste buds as there is over 200 or is it 300 types of different kimchi. One of my favorite Korean dish made with kimchi is “Kimchi Jjigae” in english, it’s “Kimchi stew”, it is to be said that it is more tastier if the kimchi is older. But to Malaysians, most of us might think the fresher stuffs tastes better. Kimchi jjigae especially with noodles tastes really good!

Bulgogi <3

“Bulgogi” also one of the popular Korean food, are thin slices of marinated beef in soy sauce and sesame oil and is cooked on a dome-shaped grill. It’s also served like stew with green onions and so on and is REALLY REALLY delicious! Totally a dish you cannot miss.

Galbi

And there’s “galbi” (beef ribs). It’s almost the same with bulgogi other than it is cooked on a grill. have to try it too! It’s also served with mushrooms and onions, and it’s yummy too!

Bibimbap after it’s mixed

“Bibimbap” is good to0! it’s assorted vegetables, mushrooms and meat, gotta mix it before you eat it! =P

Samgyeopsal

“Samgyeopsal” known as bacon, is marinated and cooked like galbi, and it’s really nice when you have it with rice and the sweet soy sauce with some chilli powder!

Deonjang Jjigae
Also not to forget, “deonjang” !! it’s korean bean paste, when you mix it with liquid, it becomes deonjang jjigae if I’m not mistaken, but when you mix it with some korean chilli paste, it becomes a really nice sauce/paste to eat along with galbi.

Kimbap

“Kimbap” is actually something like sushi roll. It’s er.. physically the same to me but tastes different in some way. =)

Sannakji

Will update more about korean food when I get to try MORE of it. Can’t wait to try the “Sannakji”! It’s live squid, still moving. But I’m afraid of it at the same time >_<. All these I recommend here totally suit my taste!

The Last Saturday Post.

Monday, January 21st, 2008

My comp was BUSTED. Luckily William, my sis’s best friend came to the rescue, or else I don’t think I’d be able to blog in days! Okay, back to the post I was supposed to post on last Saturday.

I went out to Ampang Point with 2 purposes:
1 to listen to my teacher’s (korean language teacher) jamming session
2 to have the DELICIOUS korean food there, and I FORGOTTEN to take a picture of the restaurant agaaaaain. Awww.

The worst thing on that day that is so bothering is my accounts tuition. Out of all days WHY must it be on a SATURDAY? so basically I can only be there from 11-3 then I’ll have to go. Although I’ve never been to any jamming sessions before, I can say that it’s incredibly noisy but it’s kinda nice, just imagine you have your own band and is practicing in some studio creating and singing your own songs, isn’t that fun?!

Well, there’s 6? people in the band, a lead singer, 2 guitarist, a bassist, a drummer and a pianist. I really really envy them, I just wish that I can at least play an instrument, or maybe even if I can’t I want to have a nice voice like my teacher, Jang Hwan. They’re called Childhood Dreamers, and you know what? they actually have their own song written and created by themselves! Team work. Hahaha, they’re from Sri Garden by the way.

After all those Jamming and eating, I went to tuition like normal, except maybe I wore a little too much just for tuition, and didn’t feel really comfortable with it. And after tuition, with a last minute plan, me, Eugene the Euglena and another 2 of his friends went to Mines to watch Cloverfield. In my opinion, it’s quite nice, just that the ending is really really disappointing, it’s like it just ends like that.

OVERALL, it was a really fun day, it’s also the first day I went out with friends this year! Talked and laughed a lot. haha.

2008, not a good year for the Monkey zodiac

Many people around the world, chinese, japanese, korean, taiwanese, angmoh, even indians believe in feng shui. Basicly, it’s something that almost anybody from any race believe in. It’s quite true, but not like it’s 100% accurate. About attitudes, I really think that it is very accurate, my mom bought a few of those books from Lilian Too’s World of Feng Shui, read a few lines about the characteristics and I find it incredibly true. In Lilian Too’s book, Monkeys aren’t really having such a bad luck, just quite. But according to another random book my mom bought, it says that Monkeys this year won’t succeed in everything they do no matter how hard they try. It’s scary isn’t it? and it also said that Monkeys have no lucky stars to help them, so there will be many black hearted people wanting to destroy you by gossiping or something, for more info, buy the book! I think any brand will say almost the same thing =). The only better one is that we are cheeky and might get the situation a little better. I don’t put 100% of my trust in it, but I shall try my best to avoid >_<.

School is really really tough. In the second week, I got a few exercises for additional mathematics, modern mathematics, bio and a subject that the smartest person might not like, history. I WANT MY FORM 1-3 HISTORY BACK! form 4 history is really boring. At least the words for history form1-3 books are bigger and have more pictures to entertain us. Now, the form 4 history book doesn’t have many pictures and the words are smaller. Additional Mathematics is a lot more difficult than Modern ones, it’s killin’ me! The worst thing is, BM is getting tougher and tougher and yet I still feel my standard of writing malay essays is still at the form 1 standard. Sigh. Everybody’s getting busy from tuitions and homeworks, the life of studying in pure science is really boring.

Ciao! =)

Pure Science, okay..

GOSH! the accounts + add math class is seriously full and I don’t think other than changing school, I can become an accounts student =(. But it’s okay, just gotta study harder, gain more knowledge about science subjects, although it’s a waste of time for me because I have no intentions on being some doctor or engineer. I’ll be taking accounts as an extra subject <3. Accounts is so much better than Physics, seriously. Then most probably arts? just gotta attend some art classes to pick up my skills, my drawings are “nice” for a form 1 or 2, total disaster for form 4.

We had English, History, PE and English class for today, and guess what?! English doesn’t have much difference with form 3, other than it changed those objective questions to subjective and the tougher part is that the essay words boost up from 180 to 350. Okay, that’s fine too. History? the worst disaster for almost everybody I guess?? I don’t think I’ll like this year’s history at all since I heard it was all about politics, no interesting fairy-tale-like stories. PE is like PE other than this year the teacher wanted the prove of me lacking glucose in my blood from the doctor himself, I don’t go to clinics to test already! when I faint I can just drink some salt+water. Sigh.. then there is Add Math, quite interesting, but I guess the part with all the hazards and tornadoes is not in todays lesson, as many people only aim to pass.

So now I need tuitions which are darn costly, and lots of effort.

Really gotta study hard!

C yah!

Yes I’m kinda free right now =D
