I hadn’t noticed the recent inflation in cakes until I was helping my sis’s bf to shop for a cake for my sister and he told me to get a Haagen Dazs. holy cow! a 1kg puny cake from Haagen Dazs costs RM138. OF COURSE it’s delicious but judging from the price and the size that I can finish all by myself. don’t you think it’ll hurt to swallow every bit of it? not worth it. so I told him I’ll get something else.

then I went to various bakery shops and mostly look pretty, but they definitely do not look delicious. so I ended up going to BSC because I remembered I was there with Yee Hou and he told me that the cakes from O Gourmet are scrumptious and delectable. when I reached the counter, I was so delighted by the choices of cakes, I was in a dilemma. but the cake that I think my sister would like is definitely..

the Chocolate Banana. RM70 for this 7″. there are a few categories for cakes in my opinion. those for you to keep whacking 0n it non stop (chilled jello types/light, fruitty ones/spongy cakes), those that can keep you eating eventhough they are awfully sinful (to me, mille crepes!) and finally, those that are rich and thick, and you’d be satisfied with just a small piece.

and this chocolate banana cake falls on the third category. it’s a way to feel less sinned and also enjoy every bite of it.

so my sister is still in disbelief on her new age, she told us to just put one candle. hahaha.

it’s really difficult being her younger sister because each time my friends ask me why do I look so different (not as pretty as her pfft). and it sucks even more when your relatives talk loudly in front of your whole family and they kept saying “WOW YOUR OLDER DAUGHTER IS SO BEAUTIFUL!”

but it’s not all that bad you know. because the good thing is, the uglier one can be invinsible and not get involved in the “LET ME INTRODUCE MY SON TO YOU!” conversation.

but eventhough I am always very jealous of my sister having all the charms, I love her a lot! <3. because without her I would still be a tiny sperm. or an ovum which will eventually get disposed wth.

here’s the story : my sister came back from the kindergarten one day and asks my mom “why does everybody have little brothers and sisters except me?” and there’s where all the deep considerations from my parents come from. basically I am born to just entertain my sister WUAHAHAH which I think I did very well in. but even at the young age of 5, she made a deal with my parents to love me forever! D’AWWWWWWW.

yum. yum. yum. the icing chocolate tastes like macaroon fillings. =3.

the thing about celebrating your birthday in a japanese restaurant.. you gotta use chopsticks to eat your cake. =P.

and as the most loving sister in the world who is always poor and broke, I made her a box of chocolate macarons!

it took me 6 hours to make it AHHHHHHHHH. but definitely the best gift!

growing up with CWZJ (or in other words, The House of Tea Kings), the one restaurant that has transformed from a shabbily built roadside restaurant to one of the finest Chinese cuisine in KL.

the owner had lived in China and often travel around to find inspiration on creating a unique yet traditional dish which brings out the true flavour of Chinese food.

today, known by a lot of elites, CWZJ offers food that always satisfies their customers.

the interior of CWZJ.

despite being popular at night, they have limited tables at around 10 tables.

they have a CNY set (ONLY the CNY set is available in the CNY period sadly. starting from RM888/10pax. cheapest set already includes abalone! expensive, but only once a year! oh well.) but here’s what I had for pre CNY. to enquire about the CNY menu you shall call them to e-mail you their menu =).

RAW GEODUCK! actually, you can either eat it raw (which I love. they provide wasabi too!) or cook it in the clear herbal soup next to it with veges!

I guess this is everyone’s favourite fatty pork meat! tender and traditional. I think it’s called Tung Bo Yuk in cantonese =D.

and for something more Malaysian, their own very version of Ikan Kembong Sambal Fish!

LALA! I am usually very picky on lala’s because many places don’t serve.. clean lala’s. but it’s completely safe here. haha.

another dish that I absolutely love. fried pumpkin. sounds very oily. but it’s not true. don’t let it’s name fool you because I hate fried food and if I tell you this is good, you shall mark my words.

Fuyu ladies finger! I am clueless if it’s because I am of Hakka descent but my whole family loves Fuyu. we can finish a bowl of plain porridge with just a cube of Fuyu.

I’ve recently also tried their Yee Sang but forgot to bring my camera that day. I am not biased when it comes to their Yee Sang because I am very picky on sweet stuff. I hate food that are extremely sweet if they are not solid sweets. their Yee Sang seems to be carefully adjusted to suit/accomodate the aged and feels much more healthy. =D. not to mention that they add Carviar in their Yee Sang!

happy cook cooking! best is there’s a window for you to see the cooks while they are cooking. no dirty jobs! plus points for the food being even more cleanly handled!

since it’s called the House of Tea Kings, where CWZJ which means Cha Wang Zi Jia (direct translation from the english), tea’s are their specialty. they will never use the same lava teapot for any different type of tea.

the amount of tea they keep!! and these are seriously not all. but bare in mind. one disk of tea can cost up to thousands! really depends on the type of the tea and it’s age =D.

but other than that, they also have the awesome Paulaner (wheat beer! I likey. especially those in glass bottles, they GENERALLY TASTE BETTER.) and some French(?) Juice as well as Korean wine.

these fishes look pretty creepy here. hmm.

who would have guessed abalones are turquoise!

if you’re not very much of a KL person, you MIGHT still not know about these cudly bears. well, not exactly cudly but they are so creative. 1 bear sent to each country and is now displayed at Kuala Lumpur as a sign of world peace.

we Malaysians are still unable to travel to Israel but here’s an Isreali bear!

until I noticed that.. the bears are doing the Goku thing.

IT’S KAMEHAMEHA!!!

THOSE 100+ BEARS ARE ALL PROTECTING US.

okay I shall cut the crap hahaha.

here’s my favourite bear. I love it because it’s gold and embossed! so detailed zomg. from France!

another simple yet really attractive bear would be Thailands. in fact, many bears are nice. there are so many, you just have to see it yourself! I can’t possibly flood my blog with 100+ pictures of bears right? hehehehe.

since it’s a Korean bear, I shall take a picture with it! but my sister said this is the nicest bear though. hmm.

THE BEARS IN MINI SIZE!! so super cute but these little bears costs RM80 for one. U_U. the bigger ones around RM300 as I remember. super pricey. but if you’re rich, why not? the money will go to donation too!

seems like Carousel is the IN thing right now. Pavilion is always the best spot to visit for festive decorations! the Chinese New Year ones are nice as well! but lets wait until CNY really comes on this 23rd!!

trying to steal a candyfloss wth.

just joking hahaha.

I don’t want to die from artificial candyfloss chemicals.

next, my food review on Tokyo Don!!

Tokyo Don @ Pavilion. LOOK AT THOSE X’MAS DECO! SO CUTE! simple but nice. to be honest, the shops here in Tokyo Street really resemble those in Tokyo.

for the menu, there are about 24 sets to choose from. or you can get some sushi next door over, since it’s owned by the same boss.

not to mention, Tokyo Don and Tokyo Teppan is actually the same. Tokyo Teppan is much bigger though. and they cook your Teppanyaki in front of you =D. while Tokyo Don makes.. Dons in front of u? haha. anyway, same menu.

prices are around RM25++ above.

this is one of the best Sake Don with Salmon Roe. not only they are generous on the Salmon, the Salmon is also really fresh. I just dislike the part where they mix white carrot with the Salmon Roe. that’s because I really hate white carrots haha eventhough learning but I only can take the pickled ones so far. but for a price at RM28, it’s definitely worth the money.

Chicken Katsu Don, if I’m not mistaken. was a friends. he said it’s nice but for RM25, I feel it’s not as worth it as mine as the tax here is 16% now pfft. and for Chicken! and egg!

but do you see that beancurd side dish? it’s YUMMY. =3. soft soft beancurd.

they fair in wasabi and shoyo as well =).

ITADAKIMASU!

that’s one of the few Japanese words I learn from watching animes hahahaha.

PS : I’m pretty sick that day from fever and diarrhea and allll that. and is falling sick AGAIN due to the heaty CNY weather. sigh.

I guess when it’s CNY, the weather will inform you.

I really have no idea which is the correct spelling.

bak kut teh?

bukuteh?

bahkuteh?

whatever it is, IT’S STILL DELICIOUS. for a Cheras girl like me, travelling all the way down Klang IS A HASSLE. so to you other people who seldom make it to Klang, let me introduce you (my uncle said it’s one of the best and judging by how crowded it is I guess he’s right!) one of the most delicious Bakuteh in Klang.

the shop’s name is Restoran Kee Heong. [map at the end of the post]

for you foreigners who might not know what Bakuteh is, Bakuteh is actually a type of pork stew in herbal soup originated from Klang, Malaysia by the Hokkien Chinese people(I may be wrong but this is all I know). so, HERBAL SOUP? sounds disgusting. it ain’t bitter? NO. in fact, very sweet because of the pork.

and it has became so famous among us Malaysians, it’s sold almost everywhere here. so please don’t doubt it’s flavour; it’s the best pork creation to me! (I believe, to many others too.)

12 choices of dish to choose from. sadly, they do not serve pork tendon which I love the most. some shabby Bakuteh shops in KL serves them and it’s absolutely the best.

huge pork bone, some ribs and yau char kuai.

pause.

why is yaucharkuai called yaucharkuai anyway? it litereally translates into oil fry ghost. HMM? truthfully, it isn’t that great to me but my whole family lovessss dipping it in the Bakuteh soup. is it just me?

anyway I love it here because they are not stingy over their delicious soup. best thing is YOU CAN REQUEST FOR EXTRA SOUP!!! *salivates*

the first time trying DRY BAKUTEH!

it’s delicious.

those ladies finger is a bomb. just that I don’t understand why it’s called Dry Bakuteh when it doesn’t taste like Bakuteh at all. pfft. more like stir fried pork in awesome black sauce.

finally, THE TRADITIONAL BAKUTEH! to tell the truth, it only tastes A BITTTTTTTT better than the famous ones in KL because to me, ALL BAKUTEHS ARE AWESOME!!! (just not those in the foodcourt, okay?) INCLUDING MY DADS! oh well, I guess it’s really just me not being picky on Bakuteh.

EAT ALL THE BAKUTEH! *that pink shirt meme*

how I look when I woke up from the long hour drive. pfft. habit of sleeping in the car whenever I sit behind haha.

the huge Chatime opened outside Lot 10 but the one in Pavilion is still going to take 30minutes for you to get your drink. so, the alternative is OCHADO, the one located at Tokyo Street. of course, they all have a queue. but it only took us roughly 5minutes for all the queuing up and waiting for the drink. much better, no?

to be honest, this is actually my first time having Ochado and I was really curious on how different it might taste since it have a very similar concept with my favourite Chatime.

here’s a chart of the top 10 drinks of Ochado where me and my sister got Oreo Chocolate and Roasted Tea with Azuki Beans (red beans, actually. they had to make it sound more jap haha) and Pearls.

the others ordered others like the Grape Yoghurt Aloe Vera Tea and the Okinawa Matcha Milk Tea. I was quite attracted to the Pop Egg Milk Tea actually, where coffee actually fills the brownish black eggs. but to my disappointment, I’m allergic to caffeine and it was already sold out on that day.

the Oreo one was pretty good as it’s ice blended but it sure did give me brain freezes every time I take a big gulp. I also took a sip of the Grape Yoghurt one. it’s definitely a girls drink. love the aloe. but Jeffro commented it wasn’t too.. Yoghurty.

but two of my friends whom had ordered the Okinawa Matcha hated it. =S. so I guess for those who likes matcha with red beans, stick with Chatime.

as for myself, I liked this Milk Tea which also, I believe, contain a minimal amount of caffeine. this drink is awesome but never order large because you’ll eventually get sick of it. it’s like eating too much of those thick creamy cheesecake.

it’s not Chinese New Year yet, I CAN STILL WEAR BLACK. hahahaha. and it was just a few more gulps after what you can see above until I can’t drink anymore of it. regret for ordering large!

verdict : it’s pretty good but I prefer Chatime (I love their Uji Matcha and Choco Mousse! while many other’s aren’t exactly worth the price.) over it for taste. but if you hate waiting, Ochado is where you should head to for a cup of wonderful refreshing drink in this hot Malaysian weather.

this seemingly 1km long dragon is the main reason why we went to Pavilion for. it’s indeed a view. super worthy. if you’re in KL, no harm to go take a look and get amazed by it right? =D.

the <del>upskirt</del> uplantern view!

we went over to Sungei Wang for dinner and went back to Pavilion roughly 30minutes after when Jay Chou is SUPPOSED to be there (him and the director of Viral Factor for their promo?). so every floor was flooded with Jay Chou fans and we had to go over to the top level to get a comfortable space to see. and AFTER ANOTHER HALF AN HOUR.. he finally came out and stood there for about 15minutes saying words that might not even sum up to 1 minute. while waiting for him there were fans that went on stage to sing where one was actually pretty good. but Jay did not even sing! =(. wasted my time waiting for 30minutes. pfft.

since his movie is done, why did he even keep his ugly moustache! but his fans are really really really mad. hahaha. and Happy Birthday to him in 2 more days! 18th January. =D.
