so I went to Redang with my Korean friend and she noticed that Redang seems like the only beautiful island that’s not invaded by Koreans yet and she found little or almost no information about this beautiful island on the internet and asked me to write about it in Korean so that it can help Koreans who would like to travel to this clean and beautiful island =).

there’s a few things people should know about going to Redang. firstly, going to Redang would be cheaper on a package which includes food, accommodation, transportation and snorkeling. mine was around 500-600 but it varies and could be cheaper or more expensive during different seasons. my cousin told me hers was 800ringgit. my price has the transportation from KL to KT included.

the second thing you should know is that goggles and live jackets are not included in the package but are one-off-rentals meaning that even if you stay there for a week, you only have to rent them once.

the third and most important thing you should know is that Redang is only open from March to October as the other months are the monsoon season.

for older folks, going there might be exhausting as if you take the bus, it’ll take around 7 hours and then there’s a 2 hour boat/ferry ride on top of it. for those who are seasick, remember your medicine!

we reached Kuala Terengganu early so we went for breakfast at the Chinatown where there’s shops opened even at the wee hours of 6am.

IMG_0336 copy

ahhh look at that blue water! upon reaching the island, the long hour of bus ride and ferry ride didn’t seem to be so exhausting anymore. because it’s all worth it! such clean waters! I was in disbelief that this is a part of Malaysia too hahaha.

IMG_0339 copy

as soon as we get there, we had our briefing on our itinerary and then lunch was served! I was actually quite amazed by their quality of food as I’ve not expected much from their buffet style food. but it was so good and they even serve fried sweet potatoes for tea! they serve 4 meals a day! *burp*. believe me, swimming is very tiring and makes you really hungry!

IMG_0342 copy

here’s Ellen, my good friend from uni! <3. she wanted to visit the beach so.. I brought her to Redang and she loved it!

IMG_0346 copy

while eating, we fed the squirrels too!

IMG_0347 copy

omnomnomnomnom look at how cute the squirrel is! I WANT ONE!!!!

IMG_0350 copy

there’s some time before our snorkeling schedule so we walked around~ it was soooo beautiful~

IMG_0353 copy

the waters were crystal clear and they were super blue. I was told that I went on a bad season as it was raining the past few days and the moon was very round making the waves strong and water chalky. but I didn’t feel so. at all!

IMG_0360 copy

we were also greeted by monkeys in front of our hotel!

IMG_0381 copy

must have a picture with the beautiful beach!

IMG_0396 copy

honestly it was so hot I couldn’t open my eyes at all. at 12pm, you should just stay in haha.

IMG_0416 copy

or maybe laze on a hammock~

IMG_0420 copy

or maybe build a sand castle. I insisted that this was a poo castle.

IMG_0425 copy

when the time was up we quickly changed into our swimsuits and off we go!

IMG_2145 copy

there’s a law that you must wear a life jacket when you go to the sea so.. even if you’re good in swimming there’s no exception! well I think you can swim around without one if you’re a pro but you still need one when you ride on the boat.

IMG_2164 copy

was lucky to have underwater pictures thanks to my friend’s underwater camera!

shall I show you what I saw?

IMG_2157 copy

IMG_2178 copy

IMG_2185 copy

we bought a pack of fish food at RM2 and went to the beach in front and boy, there were a lot of fishes @_@.

IMG_2192 copy

they totally blocked my face hahaha.

IMG_2193 copy

IMG_2198 copy

ain’t it pretty?

IMG_2210 copy

our 2nd snorkel. we saw big eels and all on our 3rd snorkel at the “marine park” but we didn’t manage to take any pictures.

IMG_2211 copy

IMG_2227 copy

theses aren’t corals. I think they are called the christmas tree worms or something. if you tap around them, they’d quickly slide back into their hole. very cute err worms.

IMG_2231 copy

IMG_2261 copy

NEMO!!! I’m so in love with clown fish I’ve always wanted a salt water tank just so I can rare them as my pets T___T. but it’s so troublesome and expensive pfft.

IMG_2284 copy

for RM180 you can even go diving! Ellen doesn’t know how to swim but after 20-30minutes of training on the swimpool she successfully went diving! it costs RM90 for people who already know how to dive ^^ it was quite fun as there’s some underwater post office ahahah.

IMG_2286 copy

what are the odds of getting 3 clown fish looking at the camera?! weird but cute!

IMG_0429 copy

dinner buffet =3. lamb lamb lamb! noticed that Koreans don’t really like lamb that much.

IMG_0433 copy

IMG_0439

Ellen couldn’t miss her beer.

IMG_0440 copy

IMG_0441 copy

our view for the night! there are 3-4 beach parties in a week there so if you’re not tired.. you may go! there are live bands everyday though.

IMG_0537 copy

brought many sets of swimsuits so we decided to take some pictures in it before it’s too late. well.. the sun was already setting when we went out for pictures!!!

IMG_0545 copy

I’m really bad in posing T_T. need to learn from the Koreans!

we went to KT early the next day as we wanted to walk around KT ^^.

IMG_0658 copy

high tide in the morning~ it was so dark at 6 we could barely take any pictures.

IMG_0662 copy

but as we were leaving at 7.. it suddenly got so bright pfft.

IMG_0681 copy

Kuala Terengganu

some stalls at KT!

IMG_0682 copy

its sad how turtle eggs are still being sold in KT.. please please please refrain from eating them! save the turtles!

IMG_0685 copy

there are many pretty alleys decorated in KT’s chinatown!

IMG_0690 copy

IMG_0692 copy

IMG_0694 copy

batiks sold in KT were pretty cheap so if you want to buy batik..

IMG_0698 copy

batik turtles~ there was an alley dedicated for turtles! telling you not to buy turtle eggs and to volunteer to help these poor baby turtles.

IMG_0704 copy

on the way back my friend bumped into his friend from KT and we went for BKT hehehehe.

IMG_0705 copy

a trip to Malaysia will never be complete without eating Bak Kut Teh!

Hi! Thanks for your kind posting and beautiful photo. I’m Korean who just move to Malaysia because of work. This morning I got recommendation about Redang island from Grab car driver 🙂 when I asked him to recommend where any good place for Malaysian not famous to Korean. He recommended Redang and I happened to visit your website on googling. This island looks fantastic and your guide really helpful. Appreciated!
