looking for an exquisite restaurant this CNY? I recommend CWZJ.

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

growing up with CWZJ (or in other words, The House of Tea Kings), the one restaurant that has transformed from a shabbily built roadside restaurant to one of the finest Chinese cuisine in KL.

the owner had lived in China and often travel around to find inspiration on creating a unique yet traditional dish which brings out the true flavour of Chinese food.

today, known by a lot of elites, CWZJ offers food that always satisfies their customers.

IMG_1176 copy

the interior of CWZJ.

IMG_1146 copy

despite being popular at night, they have limited tables at around 10 tables.

IMG_1242 copy

they have a CNY set (ONLY the CNY set is available in the CNY period sadly. starting from RM888/10pax. cheapest set already includes abalone! expensive, but only once a year! oh well.) but here’s what I had for pre CNY. to enquire about the CNY menu you shall call them to e-mail you their menu =).

RAW GEODUCK! actually, you can either eat it raw (which I love. they provide wasabi too!) or cook it in the clear herbal soup next to it with veges!

IMG_1210 copy

I guess this is everyone’s favourite fatty pork meat! tender and traditional. I think it’s called Tung Bo Yuk in cantonese =D.

IMG_1208 copy

and for something more Malaysian, their own very version of Ikan Kembong Sambal Fish!

IMG_1199 copy

LALA! I am usually very picky on lala’s because many places don’t serve.. clean lala’s. but it’s completely safe here. haha.

IMG_1196 copy

another dish that I absolutely love. fried pumpkin. sounds very oily. but it’s not true. don’t let it’s name fool you because I hate fried food and if I tell you this is good, you shall mark my words.

IMG_1194 copy

Fuyu ladies finger! I am clueless if it’s because I am of Hakka descent but my whole family loves Fuyu. we can finish a bowl of plain porridge with just a cube of Fuyu.

I’ve recently also tried their Yee Sang but forgot to bring my camera that day. I am not biased when it comes to their Yee Sang because I am very picky on sweet stuff. I hate food that are extremely sweet if they are not solid sweets. their Yee Sang seems to be carefully adjusted to suit/accomodate the aged and feels much more healthy. =D. not to mention that they add Carviar in their Yee Sang!

IMG_1192 copy

happy cook cooking! best is there’s a window for you to see the cooks while they are cooking. no dirty jobs! plus points for the food being even more cleanly handled!

IMG_1179 copy

since it’s called the House of Tea Kings, where CWZJ which means Cha Wang Zi Jia (direct translation from the english), tea’s are their specialty. they will never use the same lava teapot for any different type of tea.

IMG_1136 copy

the amount of tea they keep!! and these are seriously not all. but bare in mind. one disk of tea can cost up to thousands! really depends on the type of the tea and it’s age =D.

IMG_1155 copy

but other than that, they also have the awesome Paulaner (wheat beer! I likey. especially those in glass bottles, they GENERALLY TASTE BETTER.) and some French(?) Juice as well as Korean wine.

IMG_1168 copy

these fishes look pretty creepy here. hmm.

IMG_1156 copy

who would have guessed abalones are turquoise!

Doraemon World 2012 @ Genting!

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

HI ALL!!!! I just returned from my 3 days trip in Genting. and one of the things I would like to share (and have never thought of. since I didn’t bring my DSLR) about is the DORAEMON EVENT!!! I read Doraemon SOMETIMES. but my sister is the BIGGEST FAN ON EARTH. she went into the Doraemon gallery and started to explain what is for what. like a walking encyclopedia.

DSC01303 copy

it costs RM35 and runs from 10am-10pm. the thing is, it’s quite expensive. but in return, you get a LIMITED EDITION TOUCH AND GO!!! with RM5 innit.

DSC01305 copy

it’s located at the Arena of Stars, by the way!

DSC01306 copy

THIS IS THE TOUCH AND GO CARD!!! so super very cute. the entrance fee is not so bad because this touch and go card already cost RM10 plus the RM5 inside. and since it’s limited edition and specially printed, another RM10. so basically you’re paying RM25 for the touch and go and RM10 for the Doraemon town, gallery and carnival.

IMAG0179-1

I guess that little touch and go card above isn’t too clear so here’s the REAL Doraemon Touch N Go card! it’s actually in a much lighter blue! (the most beautiful blue, the doraemon blue!) phone setting problem, sorry!

it starts off with a tour around Doraemon’s Town. by an actual tour guide. haha.

DSC01319 copy

first stop, the comic room!! tells you all about the characters in Doraemon

DSC01318 copy

I don’t know why but I’ve always liked Suneo eventhough he is a scardie cat hahaha. he looks the least dumb I guess haha. Nobita’s dumbness level can make me yell “WHY IS HE SO STUPID” out loud in front of strangers pfft.

DSC01317 copy

good thing is you get to be in the comics as well hehehehhee.

DSC01324 copy

SECOND!!!! NOBITA’S ROOM!!! everything look so familiar hahahah. and these are all imported from Japan =D.

DSC01326 copy

why this Dorami haz no ears too? Doraemon’s one got eaten by rats so what about hers?!

DSC01330 copy

next, Nobita’s living/dining room! and I like that shoe rack. so Japanese *Japanese fever shall come back soon!*

DSC01336 copy

and finally, SUNEO’S HOME!!! it is quite scary that the mannequins are so huge when they are supposed to be.. kids.

DSC01346 copy

and the last stop for the tour!!! THE TIME TRAVELLING MACHINE ROOM! only bad thing about these rooms are that they transfer you after.. 3minutes? so you basically don’t have a lot of time spent in each room. and dear photographers, IT’S VERY DIM INSIDE THERE. plus you can’t do ceiling bounce because there’s no ceiling for most rooms!

DSC01354 copy

after the tour you can choose t take a picture with Doraemon and everyone but you’ll have to buy the picture. for a kiamz person like me. no thanks.

DSC01426 copy

from here onwards, you don’t need to follow the “tour”. you’re free to go and there are a lot of “buildings” and characters to take picture with =D.

DSC01358 copy

funny how Nobita’s mom is much taller than his dad hehehehe.

DSC01376 copy

this Doriyaki is said to be very delicious. the Doriyaki is available in Red Bean, Durian and Chocolate&Biscuit. RM10 for one. and oh!! everything inside works with Touch N’ Go. so you better reload it if you wanna spend money inside =D.

DSC01350 copy

my two favourite characters! other than Doraemon that is. hahaha. very obvious isn’t it =P.

DSC01362 copy

I tried to take pictures of evrey one of it already =D. and that’s my sister in front of the school. everyone’s looking at her from the window!

DSC01343 copy

the magic door!

DSC01384 copy

I’m supposed to be a monster. hahaha. I fit the role as Ju On yes? heheeheh.

DSC01381 copy

a kiss to Doraemon before I leave Doraemon Town!!!

DSC01385 copy

TO THE GALLERY!!!

so, at the Gallery, there are all the equipments Doraemon have used and some extra.

DSC01417 copy

lake lady (the woman you should always be honest to!) and time machine!!!

according to my sister, that lady will come out if you drop something into the river(or pond? she just said water pfft) and then she will give you something better to test your honesty and if you can resist temptation and will insist on giving it to you hahaha.

DSC01406 copy

don’t know what these 4 are. but that blue tub is the Skinkai Cream and the Y shaped thing is Yro.

DSC01418 copy

snail, time cloack where you put something broken in it and it will time travel to when it’s not broken!, the memory bread that will make you remember on whatever you slap it on and don’t know what is the camera for but it’s called Noroi no Camera

DSC01400 copy

DSC01414 copy

DSC01415 copy

THE FAMOUS TAKE-COPTER!!! okay so far this is the one I’m most familiar with hahah.

DSC01393 copy

Kamisama Robot and the Dokodemo Door.

the old man who trains you kung fu and of course.. the famous magic door that brings you where ever you want to go!!

DSC01389 copy

mini doraemon and the tunnel where you go in big and get out tiny. there’s a big one at the entrace to Doraemon Town!

DSC01401 copy

SKAN TAKO!!!! the cupid’s arrow (wth without sharp head) and the weather changer.

DSC01420 copy

AHHH YELLOW DORAEMON WITH EARS!!!

DSC01433 copy

at the Carnival. a lot of food and games! and the best is that Touch N Go self-custimizing shop. so awesome. you can put your own picture!!

DSC01429 copy

here’s a picture of how it looks like.

THE END.

United Buddy Bears & Tokyo Don/Tokyo Teppan

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

if you’re not very much of a KL person, you MIGHT still not know about these cudly bears. well, not exactly cudly but they are so creative. 1 bear sent to each country and is now displayed at Kuala Lumpur as a sign of world peace.

IMG_4716 copy

we Malaysians are still unable to travel to Israel but here’s an Isreali bear!

IMG_4707 copy

until I noticed that.. the bears are doing the Goku thing.

IT’S KAMEHAMEHA!!!

THOSE 100+ BEARS ARE ALL PROTECTING US.

okay I shall cut the crap hahaha.

IMG_4680 copy

here’s my favourite bear. I love it because it’s gold and embossed! so detailed zomg. from France!

IMG_4658 copy

another simple yet really attractive bear would be Thailands. in fact, many bears are nice. there are so many, you just have to see it yourself! I can’t possibly flood my blog with 100+ pictures of bears right? hehehehe.

IMG_4656 copy

since it’s a Korean bear, I shall take a picture with it! but my sister said this is the nicest bear though. hmm.

IMG_4808 copy

THE BEARS IN MINI SIZE!! so super cute but these little bears costs RM80 for one. U_U. the bigger ones around RM300 as I remember. super pricey. but if you’re rich, why not? the money will go to donation too!

IMG_4803 copy

seems like Carousel is the IN thing right now. Pavilion is always the best spot to visit for festive decorations! the Chinese New Year ones are nice as well! but lets wait until CNY really comes on this 23rd!!

IMG_4876 copy

trying to steal a candyfloss wth.

just joking hahaha.

I don’t want to die from artificial candyfloss chemicals.

next, my food review on Tokyo Don!!

IMG_4788 copy

Tokyo Don @ Pavilion. LOOK AT THOSE X’MAS DECO! SO CUTE! simple but nice. to be honest, the shops here in Tokyo Street really resemble those in Tokyo.

for the menu, there are about 24 sets to choose from. or you can get some sushi next door over, since it’s owned by the same boss.

IMG_4787 copy

not to mention, Tokyo Don and Tokyo Teppan is actually the same. Tokyo Teppan is much bigger though. and they cook your Teppanyaki in front of you =D. while Tokyo Don makes.. Dons in front of u? haha. anyway, same menu.

prices are around RM25++ above.

IMG_4773 copy

this is one of the best Sake Don with Salmon Roe. not only they are generous on the Salmon, the Salmon is also really fresh. I just dislike the part where they mix white carrot with the Salmon Roe. that’s because I really hate white carrots haha eventhough learning but I only can take the pickled ones so far. but for a price at RM28, it’s definitely worth the money.

IMG_4776 copy

Chicken Katsu Don, if I’m not mistaken. was a friends. he said it’s nice but for RM25, I feel it’s not as worth it as mine as the tax here is 16% now pfft. and for Chicken! and egg!

but do you see that beancurd side dish? it’s YUMMY. =3. soft soft beancurd.

they fair in wasabi and shoyo as well =).

IMG_4781 copy

ITADAKIMASU!

that’s one of the few Japanese words I learn from watching animes hahahaha.

PS : I’m pretty sick that day from fever and diarrhea and allll that. and is falling sick AGAIN due to the heaty CNY weather. sigh.

I guess when it’s CNY, the weather will inform you.

you can read her version of post in her blog but here’s a little of what I took with my camera! =D.

but because we were all busy filming T_T we didn’t have too much time to take pictures. =(.

IMG_4940 copy

I was one of the earliest so I got my hair and make up done first! I guess it’s really my first time having my make up done by professionals. but maybe because I haven’t found the right type of make up/haven’t gotten use to the make up yet I felt I look a little weird hahaha.

IMG_4935 copy

this is Ginny! she was in the Hada Labo advertisement! not the one now but she was one of the Hada Labo girls!

IMG_4943 copy

and there goes.. camwhoring non stop =D.

IMG_4944 copy

Cheesie and Jin Yen!

IMG_4954 copy

Ginny always pose with that serious face so I thought I’d imitate her for once hehe.

IMG_4968 copy

Cheesie and her favourite Pastel coloured lolli =D. I really wanted to try the lolli but am too afraid of getting any fatter U______U. so it’s still now in my room for decoration haha.

IMG_4970 copy

Jin Yen have the hugest eyes I’ve ever seen. literally the hugest. we compared our eyes. I had RING CONTACTS ON but there wasn’t much difference between our iris’.

IMG_4964 copy

I really like Ginny’s hair! so Victoria Secret. right?

IMG_4994 copy

being photobombed hahaha.

IMG_4982 copy

spam.

IMG_4976 copy

IMG_4996 copy

I rarely have any posts where I camwhore a lot with just myself no?

IMG_5042 copy

then we had our bright lipstick on alongside with bunny ears!

IMG_5007 copy

mr hairstylist said that just to finish my hair, he can finish the other 4 girl’s hair already. U_U. my hair was the biggest challenge. I came back pulling out around 30 hairpins that he used to make my hair LOOK shorter.

IMG_5047 copy

the famous Henry Golding and us! he is realllly good looking eventhough I do not fancy guys from the west but yesss, really good looking!

(I personally prefer oriental looking guys and Ginny would call me bad taste pfft.)

IMG_5056 copy

notice how my hair is shorter than usual? final picture with Ringo before we all had to drive home in an exhausted state. but it was a really fun experience!

an here’s some pictures from Ringo!

her iPhone has some really awesome app!! that’s Shannon in green! =D.

silly faces hahahaha. and NOT EVERYONE CAN DO THAT EYEBROW THING!!

all of us with Ringo, the host =D.

okay! see you next time. hahaha.

to be honest I am very reluctant to show you this video because it’s really my first time on videos and I’m toooooo myself. as in, I smile stupidly everytime and laugh a lot pfft. but since it’s already on Cheeserland.com and everyone have seen it. I shall post it here too =S.

enjoy!

PS : do me a favour by voting for Cheesie pleaseeee? =D. here. http://www.sloggigirlsnight.com/

one of the BEST BAKUTEH in Klang!

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

I really have no idea which is the correct spelling.

bak kut teh?

bukuteh?

bahkuteh?

whatever it is, IT’S STILL DELICIOUS. for a Cheras girl like me, travelling all the way down Klang IS A HASSLE. so to you other people who seldom make it to Klang, let me introduce you (my uncle said it’s one of the best and judging by how crowded it is I guess he’s right!) one of the most delicious Bakuteh in Klang.

IMG_4886 copy

the shop’s name is Restoran Kee Heong. [map at the end of the post]

IMG_4888 copy

for you foreigners who might not know what Bakuteh is, Bakuteh is actually a type of pork stew in herbal soup originated from Klang, Malaysia by the Hokkien Chinese people(I may be wrong but this is all I know). so, HERBAL SOUP? sounds disgusting. it ain’t bitter? NO. in fact, very sweet because of the pork.

and it has became so famous among us Malaysians, it’s sold almost everywhere here. so please don’t doubt it’s flavour; it’s the best pork creation to me! (I believe, to many others too.)

IMG_4890 copy

12 choices of dish to choose from. sadly, they do not serve pork tendon which I love the most. some shabby Bakuteh shops in KL serves them and it’s absolutely the best.

IMG_4901 copy

huge pork bone, some ribs and yau char kuai.

pause.

why is yaucharkuai called yaucharkuai anyway? it litereally translates into oil fry ghost. HMM? truthfully, it isn’t that great to me but my whole family lovessss dipping it in the Bakuteh soup. is it just me?

anyway I love it here because they are not stingy over their delicious soup. best thing is YOU CAN REQUEST FOR EXTRA SOUP!!! *salivates*

IMG_4893 copy

the first time trying DRY BAKUTEH!

it’s delicious.

those ladies finger is a bomb. just that I don’t understand why it’s called Dry Bakuteh when it doesn’t taste like Bakuteh at all. pfft. more like stir fried pork in awesome black sauce.

IMG_4896 copy

finally, THE TRADITIONAL BAKUTEH! to tell the truth, it only tastes A BITTTTTTTT better than the famous ones in KL because to me, ALL BAKUTEHS ARE AWESOME!!! (just not those in the foodcourt, okay?) INCLUDING MY DADS! oh well, I guess it’s really just me not being picky on Bakuteh.

EAT ALL THE BAKUTEH! *that pink shirt meme*

IMG_4898 copy

how I look when I woke up from the long hour drive. pfft. habit of sleeping in the car whenever I sit behind haha.

IMG_4892 copy

here’s the map! hopefully you can find it too hehe.
