the Old Hajime is now Coco Tei@Jalan Delima
Monday, August 29th, 2011when Hajime@Jalan Damai disappeared without notice. it was like the end of us being able to get awesome (Tokyo) Japanese cuisine in KL. after having tasted what Hajime had offered, you’ll probably not find anything as good in KL anymore. not only me, but even my friends; we were all devastated from its closure and wondered where it went. we REFUSED to think that it closed down. we knew it moved somewhere.
we tried googling, but for months.. no news. and suddenly, one day, a friend told me,
“did you know? Hajime is now back. but as Coco.Tei?”
it was one of the happiest day of my foodie life! and what’s so great about it is also I’ve been introduced to this RedElephant website to get this SUPER GOOD COCO TEI DEAL . (addicted to groupon? now there’s more choices!)
to be honest, I’ve never known the existence of buying coupons online until my friend told me.. last week. D=. and apparently my sis’s friend is addicted to buying these. even my cousins. I felt as if I’m living under the rock.
BACK TO COCO.TEI! I have to say, it’s new renovation is even more beautiful than it’s previous one. larger too! but the thing about dining in Coco.Tei would be the price. it’s not so.. affordable for students like myself. but me and my friends would save bit by bit to make a trip there once in month or two. and its TOTALLY WORTH IT. if you’ve dined here. you’ll get what I mean. even if you’re stingy you’d still feel satisfied with that splurge. =P.
but with awesome sites like RedElephant I can come here more often hehehe.
the pretty interior <3.
and the pathway is so pretty. if you wanna dine in tatami style. make sure you wear shoes that can be easily taken off ^^.
my Sashimi Tempura Set! <3. (thick juicy salmon, shiromi and prawn!)
guess how much?
RM25 (including tax!). original price RM58(not including tax!). ain’t that a STEAL or what?!
and let me tell you how come I am so pro-Coco.Tei :
1. fresh wasabi. they made them!
2. awesome salad with generous slices of salmon! my sis’s face is epic when she had the salad. to tell the truth. it tasted like.. heaven.
3. fresh thick slices of sashimi! to say the truth, many Japanese restaurants in KL had not only raised the prices of sashimis, they also cut down in terms of quality and.. thickness. but is glad Coco.Tei maintained their standards!
4. fried food that’ll never make you feel sinned. they are light and definitely not oily. it feels so good.
5. smoothest cawan mushi. ever.
if these reasons are not enough to make you want to try Coco.Tei, you’re not awesome.
love their ceramic bowls and plates! the cawan muchi and miso soup is also included in the set! ^___^.
satisfied Jamie. every bite of those thick juicy sashimi is.. orgasmic.
Kurogoma and Wasabi ice-cream.
I’ll never be satisfied with me meal here without a scoop of ice-cream. Kurogoma (black seseme/goma ice-cream!) is one not to be missed here. (my sis calls it the most expensive scoop of ice cream in KL hahah). it costs RM12 for a scoop. but it’s worth the money!! U_U. you can taste black sesame bits! oh so good.
as for wasabi ice-cream. (RM10) not everybody enjoy it, unfortunately =S. but I like it =P. that sweet milky yet hot taste. MMM. <3.
I also like their green tea ice cream! =D.
by the way, even if you’re not.. you know. make a trip to the toilet =P. I LOVE the sink. it’s so.. eco. <3. I want one too T_T. it’s a real stone alright! =D.
those are the biggest crab heads I’ve ever seen. D=. it’s huger than my huge face!
can’t wait for my next visit already!
going to DISNEYSEA!
Wednesday, August 24th, 2011decided to spend a day at DisneySea rather than the usual Disneyland because.. THERE IS ONLY ONE DISNEYSEA ON EARTH. and it is in TOKYO.
DENG DENG DENG. remember how Disney Channel had those find mickey vids? well, this mickey is too huge to not notice.
taking subway here costs about RM15 (370yen X_X) already and we still had to take the Disney Monorial to our destination. pfft. no shopping and yet a big hole was formed in my purse.
saw this really pretty girl in the toilet!! she’s so adorable and pretty and I just HAD to take a picture with her. I have this fetish. but usually I am more shy with guys. U_U.
you know you know!! the day before this I was in the subway to Shinagawa and this MIXED JAPANESE GUY (Clark Kent look alike!) sitting 2 seats away from me (between us is empty!) kept staring at me *flips hair* probably because I was speaking in english and when I look at him he smiled at me /dies/ he was wearing some formal outfit and I almost melted on my seat. super regret that I didn’t get his contact.
“I’ll tea-chu you in-ge-rish-su!” or do you know english already? D=.
and right, you should know my taste is really odd on guys. but he’s really really good looking no kidding T_T. now that I think of it if I ever go back to Japan I’ll sit trains to Shinagawa in hope to see him again wth.
but then on my last day I noticed many foreigners in Japan are horny because they’d go anywhere to know asian girls so that they could be laid pfft. a caucasian man talked to me randomly at the convenience store and he asked so many questions GRHH and I lied to him my mom is waiting for me. hahaha. HE KEPT FOLLOWING. it was my scariest experience in Japan. (and that day I went to Ikebukuro ALONE. T_T)
ANOTHER 250yen (RM10) for MONORIAL. did I mention it’s ONE WAY? T_____________T. just on transportation for two we spent RM100 that day. gosh.
Japanese people have the greatest manners in the world. they line up! see! and to my surprise there are like 95% Japanese and only 5% foreigners. Japanese people are really friendly they would talk to you out of the blues just for fun and yes, it’s really fun =D. and if they saw you taking pictures of them. THEY’D AUTOMATICALLY POSE.
ANOTHER CUTE GIRL! she’s very hippy. her friends too. but she’s ze cutest <3.
you still think I am fair now? I’m so tan compared with Japanese people oh man T_T.
such a beautiful hotel T_T. such a palace!
there are so much space for cars. but oh well. it was 10am in the morn. there was once they sold in papers asking the people to take public transport there rather than driving there. but HECKK. RM50 JUST FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTTT. D=. no wonder so many people drove. =P.
I was so totally infatuated with DisneySea when I saw it afar from the window.
I thought I was in Italy.
the number of hotels surrounding Disneyland and DisneySea. I think they are all opened by Disney too.
THE PALACE HOTEL!!
the hippie people!! they were so cool =D.
the entrance fee is 5,800yen per adult. (RM225)
T_________________T. it’s the most expensive entry ticket I’ve ever bought. can you imagine if I have a Japanese boyfriend and he had to take me to DisneySea/land just for a date? that’ll cost him RM600 per date excluding food! including food probably RM800. or more.
D=.
more to come.
Engaku-ji Temple, Kamakura.
Thursday, August 18th, 2011while on the plane, we met a fellow Malaysian who recommended us to go to the countryside to have a look at the amazing temples. wasn’t sure but we were told that there were dozens of them at that whole area. and the Japanese lady who was working in Kamakura told us that even 2 days would be merely enough to enjoy all the beautiful temples and shrines in Kamakura.
890yen for a one way ticket to Kita-Kamakura from Shinagawa Station. that’s like 34ringgit holy cow!
Japanese transportation is madness. but Kamakura is definitely worth it. mark my words. especially on spring or autumn.
PS : if you are very tired/it is raining and you only want to go one stop ahead, it’d be around RM5 too. =(. that’s what happened to me in Yokohama pfft. tired and wet. sounds wrong hmm.
it takes about an hour+. the winter view of Japan is spectacular but at the same time, gloomy.
we decided to stop at Kita-Kamakura, where the famous (and huge) Engaku-ji Temple is.
my first glance at the area already left me speechless on words. it’s really beautiful. I have never been to anywhere similar. U__U.
even the residences there are so breath taking. and heck, it wasn’t even spring yet!
was told that this place is filled with people in spring and autumn. but no harm to visit in winter too. why? because the place is not crowded. at all. mostly locals.
tired from sitting on the train for more than an hour T_T.
I’ve always wanted to see one of these things live. I’m weird okay.
these train crossings look so amazing. I always wonder why there isn’t any in Malaysia, at least it’ll save cost for the over head bridge. pfft.
what’s great about travelling with your mom?
she’ll get every stranger to take a picture with her beloved daughter. and look! cute Japanese girls! =D. they are really very nice!
it was freezing I tell you.
and they weren’t even wearing any leggings. GOODNESS. Sherlyn said “Japanese girls? oi leng mm oi meng.” it means, they can die for looks. haha.
AHH PRETTY!! this is another reason why they should make railway crossings here.
can you see where it ends? <3. just like a drawing teehee. I used to illustrate my “essays” in school. because I had so much free time. and I ended up getting screwed by my teacher T_T.
beautiful place!!
beautiful flower!!
beautiful woman!!
we looked really matching. don’t we? =3.
beautiful ferns!! errr. ferns? yes? no?
maybe.
here we are! get out from the train and just walk straight, the road along the railway track.
the map for Engaku-ji. ISN’T IT MAD. IT’S SO HUGE.
we spent at least 2 hours inside. it was so pretty, and there was so much to see!
now, imagine those bald tress with pink flowers on it.
so pretty right! I saw the picture of this place taken during spring on that fellow Malaysian’s iphone. OH MY. that is why I wanted to come to this place.
=). okay lah sorry for blocking your view T_T.
here it is! this place is restricted. but looking from afar is good enough.
many parts of the temple is restricted too. well, it’s a temple. not a museum. D=.
and zoomed in! <3.
monks performing their prayers inside the wooden house! *pure tourist standing there!*
I was sad that I didn’t get to go during the Sakura season as my college had started at that time. but it wasn’t so bad, because I saw these white Sakura’s there!
so pretty <3. many elderly Japanese people sat there drawing the beautiful scenery too! awesome ain’t it?!
another restricted area. but beautiful er.. gate.
this should be the best part of the temple. with the lake on the left. ahhhh. phenomenal. it’s much more breath taking in reality. it’s something even pictures can’t explain. you’d have to breath in to the fresh, clean air and chill with the cold weather to understand. <3.
write your wish on the wooden plate, and hang it there!
can you people who understands mandarin read these? D=.
a mini shrine. I think.
the famous building!
another beautiful scene <3.
=D.
PINKISH SAKURAS!!!!
a random building there. there are so many, I couldn’t fit everything into a post. T_T.
again, imagine if all the bald trees had colourful leafs and flowers on it!!
a monk.
<3. for one moment I hope I could grow old there. confirm long live. ( if you don’t know yet, I am the type who loveeee living in the city, rather than on an island >_>”)
if it wasn’t winter, I won’t be getting such a good view. I’d be stuck in the middle of the crowd. but it was sad on the day I went. perhaps you couldn’t see it. but it was drizzling. everytime I took a picture, I actually ran to the spot and leave my umbrella beside my mom. T_T. and thus my pictures weren’t so clear too pfft.
picture from my HTC Desire HD. Pudding Camera app.
and then the rain got heavier and heavier. but we still proceeded to another temple! more to come!
Ryan’s white. Sam’s Korean.
Sunday, August 14th, 2011you might be guessing who’s Ryan.
yes?
no?
he’s in this picture.
this too. /vain picture/
this three. so, where’s Ryan? heh heh heh.
and zomg my hair is so long it can be fitted inside the picture D=.
okay Ryan is actually this super pretty white shirt from likeigloo.blogspot.com. (and bottom from Nichii =D! so affordable.) it’s so comfortable. and Sam thought it was branded. HAHAHA. you know, you don’t have to pay a lot to get a shirt which look expensive. you just need to know where to get it.
like igloo name every shirt/bottom they have! giving your clothes names! now isn’t that special <3. and hence, this is my RYAN!
lacy back!
and Tokyo Steet opened its doors at Pavilion! and that’s the awesome Kindori ice cream. I haz their discount cardeu. =3. it’s filled with japanese restaurants, snack stores (the Jap snacks I recommended, most can be found there!! I’M SO HAPPY!!!), pottery/tea stores and also, the biggest Daiso in town. oh, and there’s a japanese version of Chatime there too! queues so long D=. it does remind me of Tokyo though, they have snacks like daifuku’s. something you’d see in Tokyo’s Subway stations hehe.
hello, meet the Buddha looking (as in he literally looks like the Buddha. @_@) man who ain’t sane, SamInsanity. we both look like Koreans and people were staring at us in disbelief because we look like two Koreans speaking in Manglish. which is probably.. weird.
and, I used to trash him in o2jam 5 years ago. and now he trashed me in o2mania. =(.
HA! I GOT ANOTHER ANTI-CHATIME-ER TO LIKE MAH GREENTEA+REDBEAN AND CHOCO HAZELNUT!
MUST EAT in Tokyo, Japan!
Thursday, August 11th, 2011dear readers. if you’re planning to travel to Japan soon. you’re in luck =D. if you just came back, well, you might’ve missed some really good food!
#1. SUSHI.
no matter how expensive, you must at least try to fit this into your budget.
the sushi specials.
it costs about RM80 (2000yen) for a set of 10+ sushi’s. usually including Uni (sea urchin) and Salmon Fish Roe. and best to have it at restaurants at Tsukiji. =D. do try your best at the at least 30minutes queue shop, Sushi Dai in Tsukiji Market. and yes, it means that you’d have to go early.but really, any shop there serves sushi as fresh.
NOTE : Tsukiji Market closes on WEDNESDAYS.
#2. UNI.(oo-nee)
lets say, you’re sushi set doesn’t come with uni or you had some really bad experience eating the very disgusting and bad odoured UNI. don’t let your previous bad experiences get to you. I used to dislike Uni too. it’s like eating something that had already turned bad. but the thing is. perhaps the one I ate DID turn bad as it’s not as fresh.
even at a posh Japanese Restaurant here, their uni wouldn’t taste as good as the one you’d find in Tsukiji.
so, GO HAVE YOUR UNI!
#3. Shirako.
they are fish testicles. buttery and delicious. like a combination of mayo and foie gras. don’t let what it is scare you away. and it’s so heavenly I had to glow the picture. =3.
#4. Onigiri.
you might’ve seen it on anime’s before. but it isn’t just white rice with seaweed. there are a dozen flavours to choose from in Japan. and if you don’t want to spend a bomb on something that won’t fill you, you can always get the cheaper ones from any convenience store. =D.
I’ve eaten most of the onigiri’s in the convenience store because.. I pretty much bought them for supper. =P. AND LET ME WARN YOU.
DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT choose PICKLED fillings. it sucks. T_T. though I don’t know how the rice is always so gummy and sweet. take the one with raw fish in it. I loved the raw Tuna one. it’s wrapped in paper. white paper. not like the one above, which is transparent.
#5. SOBA. (the one on top is tsukemen)
since I went on Winter, I had this with HOT dipping sauce. YUMMEH. if you’re there on a hot summer day, have Zaru Soba! the one with cold dipping sauce. always a favourite! and it really tastes more authentic in Japan. oh well.
I won’t include these on MUST EAT. but I have to say, they are incredulous.
there, you’re buying a WOODEN BENTO BOX. costs a lot. but well, worth a try?
and MORE. they are all packaged so well. I’ve never thought packed food could be this expensive U_U.
hello, it’s about 20ringgit for one small box. haha. but it DOES look delicious. do not look down on convenience store food/ packed food in Japan. they taste even better than food in proper Japanese restaurants here.
I REALLY WANTED TO TRY IT. but I was feeling a little stingy. RM50 for lunch in a box. and you’d have to find your own place to eat it. not so worth it T_T.
ah! sushis!
#6. CAKES!
confectioneries makes me smile on a tired day. how about you?
but really, cakes in Japan are really not something to be missed out. they are so good. SO SO SO SO SO GOOD.
of course, incredulously expensive as well. but you could always have the.. “cheaper” ones. which are about RM20 for one. that one above is about 30bucks. =S.
#7. STRAWBERRIES!
did you know, stawberries in Japan are as huge as a fist?! a babies fist. but well, still a fist. they are so huge and juicy and sweet <3. awwwww.
#8. ICHIGO DAIFUKU!
Ichigo means strawberry. don’t ask me what’s daifuku.
and those are really good puddings below.
#9. PUDDING!
generally, puddings are packed into small bottles like that. costly. but yummy.
#10. COLD STONE!
okay, truth is, this is not only found in Japan. but it is so good you must try it.
banana caramel with almonds please! mmm.
as in, really a slice of banana with thick caramel and crushed almonds and ice cream all mixed right in front of you. =3.
and did I mention that customer service in Japan is SPLENDID? they will even sing songs while mixing your ice cream on the cold stone too!
very satisfied customer.
by the way, all those bento’s and cold stone are actually shops in Shinagawa subway station. the station’s so big, there are so many shops!
#11. MISTER DONUT.
I thought J Co’s were the best doughnuts on earth because it is much better than Krispy Kreme and.. Dunkin Donuts.
not until my friend studying in Japan told me about this phenomenal doughnut store.
the doughnuts were so chewy and tasty you’d go craving for more. best thing is. NOT TOO SWEET. how did they make the doughnuts so chewy really. imagine.. gummy bread. like that. D=. you’d really have to try it. it’s so good. take the ringed chocolate ones(their best seller). absolutely perfect.
#12. Umeishu.
what’s life without alcohol? teehee. good for health yo.
and when it tastes this good. I don’t mind drinking a bit more.
#13. finding soft chicken’s soft bones ain’t going to be easy for a tourist. but what I meant by putting on this picture is. the fried chicken in Japan. I hate fried food, to be honest. but I’d always break my barrier when it comes to JAPANESE fried food. it ain’t really oily. and you’d not feel sinful for eating it. =D.
#14. ITALIAN FOOD.
I know, eating Italian food in Japan is such a weird thing.
but to my surprise, it ain’t really expensive. in contrast, it’s pretty cheap! 390yen (RM15) for their recommended pasta. now ain’t that cheap! even cheaper than those in Malaysia!
AND believe it or not. but these are the most delicious pasta’s I’ve ever had. the recommended one(top) is especially good.
now here’s RM40 worth of cakes. haha.
I finished them all myself. initially I thought one is for my mom but my mom was too full. heck they are so good and EXPENSIVE. I ate them all by myself =D.
five stars!!
#15. Harajuku Crepes.
you just have to try what japanese girls crazes for. ain’t something I’ll crave for but still not bad. mine had ice cream and pudding… or was it cheesecake in it. very creamy and sweet. I felt so sinful T_T.
four stars. haha.
#16. YOSHINOYA!
if you had never eaten Yoshinoya’s beef bowls before (they previously had a branch in Midvalley. but it closed down =(..) then go have it. if you had it already. here’s something new.
KIMCHI SOUP BEEF BOWL!! so yummy. I had it EVERYDAY for breakfast. EVERYDAY. I had this as supper when I went to Tsukiji Market for breakfast.
Yoshinoya’s 24 hours.
#17. Asakusa’s STREET FOOD! <3.
so yummy, I did’t know what it was. I am still wondering what that chewy soy sauce flavoured sticky stick was. anyway, just have it. =D.
#18. SNACKS. please click here for my snacks post. =D.
